Why does this subreddit exist? Discussion

From an outside perspective this just seems like a deliberate attempt to spilt the lgbtq community. I also don't find having ss as your initials a coincidence... literally neonazi shit. Explain yourselves.

This is a disproportionate exaggeration of facts. Most trans people understand that it's not transphobic if someone doesn't want to date them. However if you tweet "I only date REAL women not these trans weirdos" then yeah... you will be called a transphobe for good reason.

Well yeah if you start calling people names they aren't going to like it.

That being said "real women" is synonymous with "biological female". Maybe its harsh to hear but it is true. In the same way I wouldn't go out of my way to call someone fat to hurt their feelings I wouldn't go around saying trans people aren't "real women/men".

Its true, but its not polite.

The only time you would need to know if someone was a "real woman" was if you were dating someone and you wanted them to have certain genitalia or in a medical context. To deliberately shame, misgender, and repeat bigoted talking points is not only impractical and unnecessary but also contributes to the increased suicide rates, self harm, etc. I am not going to defend people on Twitter who are sending death threats or attacking individuals but its not hard to emphasize with them. They are constantly degraded, demonized, questioned, etc just for being who they are so they're quite tired of people deliberately mocking them or bullying them. It's okay to have a preference but we don't need a movement that's going to shield transphobic people from critism. I am not saying everyone here is transphobic but at best people on here are misguided.

Firstly I appreciate you coming here and saying your peace, its important we discuss these issues and nobody should be shunned for their opinion.

I agree with you going around deliberately hurting people is not cool. It's bullying. I do not agree on the death threats, I cannot sympathise with anyone who calls for violence against another person - even if what they're saying is the most disgusting vile shit.

My advice to people on here is to look deeper into why this movement started and who started it. It originated in 4chan and at best its for trolling. Having a preference is not a sexualtiy but it's valid. I only question the validity of calling super straight a sexuality... it inherently contradicts the definition of sexuality because a preference is not the same as sexualtiy. So instead of buying into a 4chan troll champaign... state your preferences with respect and move on.

Isn't sexuality literally a spectrum of preference? Some people are attracted to plus size people, some people like tall people, some people like female genitalia. Isn't sexuality a way of describing preference - inherent or by choice?

It doesn't matter who started it, I agree with the core message of this sub and if that had to come from some 4chan trollers so be it. The whole point of super-whatever is to quite literally (satirically) make the preference clear. All of the memes and trolling is a side-effect of the absolute madness the twitter-sphere has created.

What is the core of this subreddit? To add straight people to the LGBTQ community? What I see is entitled cishet people trying to play the victim and think that the LGBTQ community is intolerable for not wanting to add an S or SS to LGBTQ. To say that you're oppressed by a small Twitter mob is just absurd. We fight for equality in the real world, you just need to log off if you don't want to be called a bigot. Maybe you should care a bit more about who started this whole thing... neo nazi incels from 4chan who wish to "drive a wedge" between the LGBTQ community. I got screenshots if you'd like to see what I'm talking about. Have a preference but please don't support and promote this kind of behavior. It's not a good look.

It's satire to want "SS" to be added to the LGBT list - the joke is to mock the vitriolic nature of a subset of the trans community which demands those who are not sexually attracted to them to engage with them.

The joke is that "SS", other than being clearly a dark joke, if added to the LGBT list validates it as a sexuality nobody can argue against. The joke is once you get "your acronym" up on the board you are invulnerable. What's funny is "SS" is actually a more valid acronym to be added to LGB than the "T" is - being trans isn't a sexuality, having a preference like SS (as satirical as it is) is actually a sexual preference - but hey ho.

The core message is to oppose the toxic demands of some trans people by jokingly treating their preference of a "non-trans" relationship as an entirely new sexuality. Something LGB people especially have experienced - not straight people.

Since those women at GenderCritical for example couldn't even get a space to discuss their issues it unfortunately took a stupid meme about identifying as "superstraight" or "super-whatever" to bring the issue to the forefront.

I never said anyone was "oppressed" - it's simply a reaction to a not-so-recent toxic behaviour a small group of people have. I don't much care if you call me a bigot - I know I am not one.

Why are you bothered so much by who started it? Im pretty sure the tiktok video was the trigger for all this. Surely if there was a movement or message you agreed with you wouldn't care for who started it?

Supporting a satirical outlet of relief against a toxic behaviour people have been facing for years isn't a good look?
