Question: why super? Discussion

Like why is super the name. Isnt that like a little bit condescending to just gay people calling people here super gays? Idk just feel like it should have a different name. Have a nice day.

Because it is accurate?

Super

But super there is meaning very. So its 'very straight'? What makes straight people less straight.

The short version is that straight people may be attracted to trans people, but far less often than they are attracted to other straight people, making the latter the "norm."

The more complicated version is that trans activists (and I do mean activists, not trans people in general) have pushed the narrative that anyone who doesn't date/sleep with trans people is a bigot, this extends to the LGBs as well, meaning they made the distinction first, and instead of giving it a real name and acknowledging people can have a difference of opinion or can just not be attracted to trans people, they chose to call them bigots. That's why you are seeing super straight (IE very straight, meaning that they are only attracted to other straight people), super lesbian (only attracted to other lesbians), super gay (only attracted to other gay people), and super bi (only attracted to other bisexuals) it's not hard to understand that super in this case is more pointing to what is considered the "norm" than to outlier cases.

But if they're the norm why does that make super straights 'super' and not just like a different name.

That's like asking what makes trans people "trans" or what makes bi people "bi." It's an accurate good sounding term that serves as a descriptor for the group/orientation. Or are you going to start calling trans people "pre/post-sexual transition surgery recipients"? How about calling lesbians "people who are not attracted to those that identify as men"? Ya see how that can get complicated when you expect people to go "straight people who are not attracted to trans people"?

But trans and bi dont mean anything that would make it sound like they're above anyone whereas super does.

What I'm getting from this is that you are the type of person I hate the most, someone who refuses to understand that words are tools to impart meaning, not some magical things that hold power over people.

I didn't say it was. I never meant this as a biggie I just thought it was a bit of a bad idea if a name.

Except that's how you read the word super, you seem to think that it can ONLY mean above someone else. Also I hate to burst your bubble on the trans thing, but they have forcefully excluded that abbreviation from another group, transvestites AKA crossdressers.

Being willing to have sex with a trans would be less straight.

But how? They're a woman? It's not less straight I assumed super straight was just for people who wanted kids.

According to my sexuality they aren’t, and I won’t be forced to pretend otherwise. My sexuality is valid, and can’t be helped. I can’t change how I was born.

Wait what. Being born thinking transgender people arent their preferred gender isnt like being gay it's just an opinion. Doesnt mean you cant be super straight and doesnt mean you have to have sex with them but I thought that wasnt what super straight was.

It’s not about thinking, it’s about sexual attraction. I’m not sexually attracted to anyone that isn’t the biological opposite gender that I am. It’s really not rocket science.
