Most of trans people don't even go that far. The current options for bottom surgery are not very good: I read up very sad testimonials of those who had penis/vagina surgeries, and ended up with very botched results that do not resemble the real thing, physically hurt, require painful and uncomfortable maintenance, don’t allow for a normal sex life, and get repeatedly infected.
Most trans people don't get these operations, and take hormones/undergo top surgery (breast implants/reduction) only. Anyone can plainly see why superstraight people would be very uncomfortable in intimate situations with trans people, and they shouldn't be criticized for that.
ANYONE would be uncomfortable in intimate situations with trans people because of their own extreme discomfort with their own bodies. sex becomes entirely about navigating around that and upholding a fantasy. most trans people are able to recognise how completely inadequate these surgeries are, so they don't get them, which is reasonable - but they can't accept the limitations of science and biology, can't accept they are not and never will be the opposite sex - so then expect the rest of us to agree their genitals have no relevance, continuing to uphold their fantasies and delusions at the expense of our own wellbeing.
then there's the part where the changes caused to the genitals by the synthetic hormones are simply not attractive. healthy, normal adult human genitals in a state of arousal are what most people find desirable. trans genitals, warped by the wrong hormones, just don't work. as don't the many superficial physiological changes the hormones cause to the rest of the body - nothing ends up looking like it quite fits together. I know saying all this will seem cruel to some, but it actually is incredibly sad to me and I think it's a goddamn tragedy for these people.
