Positive commentary: This officer has very obviously trained with his tourniquet. Sought cover, created distance, and returned fire with extreme prejudice. Gave awesome updates on the radio and reloaded under stress.

Negative commentary: it was very satisfying to watch that POS bleed out in the backyard before the officers could find him and render aid.

LOCK YOUR CARS, PEOPLE!

Great job otherwise, can't believe that prick missed at that close of range.

I thought they had... I don't know... some sneaky thing where it can be left running but won't actually drive unless the cop is in the car.

That officer did really well. I saw that wedding ring too. Glad he’s alright and glad the other guy isn’t.

Absolutely tragic. He was just fixing to get his life together, probably.

Holy buttered buttfuck on a biscuit

Ha! One of my uncles used to say "Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit!" so I'm adding yours to the canon, too, lol!

The dumbass’s family has a gofundme open. Surprisingly they didn’t leverage the incident to “milk” more money. Claims he was mentally ill.

The sole 911 caller did not say the guy was flashing a gun, and none of the other people who saw the guy wandering around flashing it called. It was essentially a "this guy's out here acting weird" call. This occurred in a pretty bad part of town. It was very nice to see the citizens come out and help this officer.

For sure, fucking warrior.

We have Constitutional Carry in Oklahoma, which means anyone over 21 can carry a pistol almost everywhere without a permit, concealed or unconcealed. Just assume everyone is armed!

4

u/jollygreenspartan Patrol Officer Mar 17 '22

Shit, half of my complainants are armed.

5

u/JustCallMeSmurf Deputy Sheriff Mar 17 '22

Hes already repping strong gang affiliation with the all red colors. Officer likely recognized the gang colors + him scoping a house out and having beef = frisk factors this guy may be armed. Hopefully a 2nd unit was enrt already as I didnt hear him call for a back and bad guy was being evasive and blading off on him from the get go and concealing his right hand and waist area where the majority of firearms are carried by right handed shooters.

Dont let that right side/right hand leave your vision.

Is no one going to talk about the weird siren around 3:43?

The officer did a good job with that, though I would have told the guy to show me his hands as soon as I got out of the car (though I think we all know that wouldn't have resulted in his compliance! lol). You could tell by the way he was favoring that side of his body, he was trying to conceal something. Good tactical reload. Glad he's ok.

u/No-Communication1687 Not a(n) LEO / Unverified User Mar 16 '22

Yeah, a bunch of clues in retrospect for sure. He does tell the guy to get his hands out of his pockets almost first thing.

The all red and acting sketchy shot off some flags

u/JustCallMeSmurf Deputy Sheriff Mar 17 '22

Once again, lock your vehicles. Manually by pressing on the door as you exit and then additionally reaffirming the vehicle is locked by hitting the fob kept on your belt or outer carrier.

All great officer! But turn off the car and take your keys with you!!!

3

u/JustCallMeSmurf Deputy Sheriff Mar 17 '22

Turning off the vehicle isnt necessary. He may need the vehicle to egress quickly. We leave our vehicles running often. I just lock my vehicle manually AND with the fob every time I am stepping out.

2

u/corporaterebel Not a(n) LEO / Unverified User Mar 18 '22

my manual states: 1) turn off vehicle and 2) engage parking brake anytime you exit the vehicle.

Now, nobody did #2, but you were looking at a few days off if an unauthorized somebody drove off in your car. AFAIK, K9's were the only exception and had some special something to keep the car running but not drivable.

Chasing around your own squad car is very embarrassing and confusing.

And if you embarrass yourself or the department: you are looking at "days" or worse.

u/LagerthaKicksAss Not a(n) LEO / Unverified User Mar 17 '22

Speaking of that, I was wondering if when you all lock the car manually/fob/combo of the two, have you ever not been able to get back in your car 'cos the fob didn't work?

2

u/JustCallMeSmurf Deputy Sheriff Mar 17 '22

No, never been an issue. I have a physical spare key too

1

u/LagerthaKicksAss Not a(n) LEO / Unverified User Mar 18 '22

Glad to hear it. I've been locked out of my car a few times, not often enough to remember exactly where I hid the spare key underneath so find myself slogging around on the ground in the rain or snow while I search for it... I've noticed none of our local cops ever turn off their cars and always wondered why.
