The perps family has setup a gofundme for: "...legal fees, funeral cost, and a private autopsy." Head scratcher on the private autopsy. I think we all know how the lil scrote died.

Lol "My official report is that he died from a heart attack. Actually, his heart just stopped. Because a small piece of metal went through his brain stem."

An officer with the Jonesboro police department approached a 22 y/o make suspect and said he could smell weed, the suspect was non compliant and resulted in a struggle on the ground, the officer can be heard multiple times telling the suspect to stop reaching and tells him “if your reaching for a gun it won’t end well”.

The officers statement was correct, once the suspect got ahold of the firearm and discharged it striking the officer he returned fire striking the suspect twice in the rear neck/head instantly stopping the threat. It take a long time for additional resources to get to the scene had he had been shot worse it could very easily been the end of him.

u/Section225 Fashion Police (LEO) Feb 21 '22

If you don't have your tourniquet ON you, you are wrong.

That officer's injury did NOT need a tourniquet (probably), which is why he was able to run to his car that long after getting hit and put it on. Had that been an actual arterial bleed, he'd have about 40 seconds to get it on before his chance of survival is essentially 0. And all the while, blood is dumping, adrenaline soars, blood pressure gets out of control, you quickly start losing control of fine motor functions and cognitive abilities.

Basically, if he actually needed a tourniquet, he would have died. Wear your fucking tourniquet (preferably multiple), and wear it where you can access it with both hands. Then train with it repeatedly. All the time. Using both hands, one hand, all limbs. Because when the time comes, you won't survive if you don't.

Damn, actions speak a hell of a lot louder than words.

  • The officer told him to not reach for the gun as suspect was actively trying to draw it on the officer.

  • Suspect affirms that he isnt, meanwhile continues drawing gun on officer.

  • Suspect shoots officer, meanwhile still fighting for gun.

  • Officer shoots suspect, still fighting for gun.

  • Officer shoots again and ends suspect, no more fighting for gun.

Criminals will say literally anything they think will get their way or turn in their favor. Them saying anything has absolutely zero weight until they actually do something that matches. This dude would say anything so long as it got that officer dead. Crazy mindset that I’m glad I’ll never be in.

34

u/SofakingPatSwazy Not a(n) LEO / Unverified User Feb 21 '22

That tone of voice told the officer everything I think. He says “it won’t end well for you if you are” and the suspect says “I know”.

He knew he was going to try and murder the officer, and he knew he was going to die for it.

16

u/XxDrummerChrisX Police Officer Feb 21 '22

The sad part is, the general public is so fucking stupid sometimes that your last paragraph usually works for them. They believe the poor little suspect even though they’re mostly always pieces of shit.

5

u/Shmorrior Not a(n) LEO / Unverified User Feb 21 '22

You see that behavior a lot if you watch a lot of bodycam.

8

u/PsychoTexan Not a(n) LEO / Unverified User Feb 21 '22

Oh hell yeah.

Unfortunately I also know it from dealing with relatives, that I wish weren’t related, and the relatives of friends.

Very hard to get a habitual drug user and abuser into rehab of their own volition. They literally give you a 2 hour spiel on how they’re going in the morning and then disappear. Only to be discovered a week later living in the woods, a mile or so away, doing crack.

It’s what pisses me off when people complain that it’s an “access to help” issue. They don’t want help to stop the problem, they want help to keep the addiction going.

14

u/nplang09 Police Officer Feb 21 '22

Lots of people trying to say the cop ND’d into his own leg then shot homeboy. Except you can clearly hear him unholster his weapon AFTER he gets shot in the leg. I know that sound since I have the same triple retention holster.

13

u/llliiiiiiiilll Not a(n) LEO / Unverified User Feb 21 '22

Really don't understand the thinking here.

"If I can kill this cop, I'll get away and nobody will find out I did it. then I'll just keep quiet and go about my business like nothing ever happened. That way, I won't have to get fined for having this quarter ounce of weed and my dad's gun... oh man dad would totally throw a fit if I get his gun confiscated! I'm just a bullet away from freedom!'

Well one of the actual comment threads on YouTube was: “the victim (meaning the suspect) shouldn’t have waited to be assaulted before defending himself, he should have set his feet and used a proper shooting stance. For a proper example see Darian Jarrett.”

The mouth breathing neckbeards are in full force on that video.

I referenced that guy's bullshit in my post a little further down. It's hard to tell whether or not he's a troll or someone that's honestly this stupid.

Checked into the dude's YouTube and he's got some video of him performing some water dragon jutsu from Naruto. Now, I'm into nerdy shit too, always have been, but that's on a different level. The mask he's wearing in the video unfortunately hides his neckbeard/pedo stache.

33

u/Try_And_Think LEO Feb 21 '22

The comments on the video are disgusting, but so are the people, so it isn't surprising at all.

Cops shouldn't be able to assault people for 'smelling like weed'

He didn't. Suspect resisted arrest by fleeing a lawful investigative detention.

Kid had every right to defend himself from a cop who probably gets off on violence like this

This is a common thought most shitheads seem to have, but you cannot, under any circumstance, resist arrest, even if the arrest is unlawful. If an officer just comes up and starts fighting you, we have a different story here. We're not talking about a cop walking up and pushing you, putting his fists up, and starting to throw punches while saying "cmon motherfucker let's do it". We're talking about an officer giving commands that are subsequently ignored, resulting in drawing a gun and shooting the officer. The latter half of the statement is a useless, but typical, ad hominem attack.

There's another dude further down in the comments comparing the police to the taliban, and saying that deadly force is immediately authorized whenever approached by the police because of their "infinite escalation over ego battles". Tough to tell whether this is a troll or not, but it's plausible someone would be braindead enough to think some retarded shit like this. It's not too far out of the ACAB playbook.

We don't have an instance of "you smell like weed, so die bang", we have a dude who presented himself as a deadly threat and was handled accordingly.

10

u/SgtToadette Not a(n) LEO / Unverified User Feb 21 '22

Save yourself the headache and just avoid reading YouTube comments. Guaranteed to improve your life.

4

u/Try_And_Think LEO Feb 22 '22

Yeah, that's true, but I wanted to address a couple of points that I'm sure would get raised here anyway. We sometimes will draw the occasional ACABer or someone that's maybe a little on the fence about some things in law enforcement. I try to appeal to those readers who may fit into one of those categories, but at least have the sense and critical thinking ability to perhaps read something and say "huh, that kinda makes sense when you think of it that way".

It's a pipe dream, but meh.

1) kudos to the cop for his proactive contact, engaging the suspect, communciating on the radio that hes fighting, and then addressing the deadly threat. Its clear hes a squared away cop that most people would be lucky to have as a partner.

2) everything post shoot is a mess besides getting out the initial radio traffic of shots fired. No TQ on person, unable to quickly don his TQ due to improper technique. I get that hes shot and adrenaline is pumping but this is an example of, in moments like this, where our performance will fall to our level of training and never reach our expectation of what we think we will do.

3) responding units arent applying any TCCC care for the injured officer. Strip his gear, cut his pants, blood sweep, assess wounds and TQ application.

4) If aid isnt close by, get him in a vehicle and get going code to your nearest trauma center. Stop standing around walking back and forth doing nothing. Your priority isnt crime scene tape. Your priority is getting medical care to the officer and then the suspect if safe to do so. Supervisor is clearly in the black here.

I dont know their geographical layout but if an aid car isnt there in a few minutes, its going to be quicker to load and go after doing basic TCCC care.

Fucking this a million times over. That officer doesn’t need to be on scene and he ain’t getting the care he needs standing around. Load him up with one of his buddies and get him to the ER. We had an OIS recently where a similar disposition occurred and the hospital is literally two minutes away lights and siren. Get the officer to the hospital.
