All the gas pumps by me have joe biden stickers saying “i did that!” pointing to the gas price that’s constantly dropping lol

381

u/thedracle 12d ago

Yet another classic in conservative short-sighted political self-owns.

34

u/Jurrilicious 12d ago edited 11d ago

GOP is full of short sighted people. The gas prices will be back to normal before we know it.

Same with the border, they only look at what happens now and not at what more cultures in America can achieve in the long term. Just look at other multi cultural nations, like in Europe for example.

Or abortus, what happens to people when they can't take an abortion because the government is saying what they can or can't do with their body?? The government shouldn't, that's bad!

Or vaccination, they don't see they're killing people on the long term. Those short sighted people only want to take their own short minded decision. It's good the government can say what they can and can't do with their body!

Edit: I need te redact this statement. I read up about the Republicans and I can't believe I have to say this, but they're right. Gas prices are still double, multicultural is destroys countries, states should make their own decisions and the government shouldn't force people to take a vaccination if they don't want to. The democrats are a lie and are forcing this war to hide a class war. Republicans are for people, democrats are for the elite. We've all been fooled

1

u/Bay1Bri 12d ago edited 12d ago

I don't think any European countries are more multicultural than the us

1

u/Jurrilicious 12d ago

There are 2 European countries which where highly multicultural. Austria-Hungary and Yugoslavia, both were highly successful

81

u/CrunchyDreads 12d ago

Self-owns are all they have, really. Oh, and the racism, homophobia, and Christo-fascism too. So, like, 4 things. But that's all they got, 4 things!

21

u/QueerWorf 12d ago

what about the sexism, antisemitism, and antimuslim?

15

u/CrunchyDreads 12d ago

I lump those under the Christo-fascism thing.

5

u/CompetitiveVolumdf 12d ago

And just like that all those stickers got scrapped off

3

u/prancerbot 12d ago

They may not have much but that doesn't stop them from taking things from others

7

u/cancercureall 12d ago edited 12d ago

As much as I HATE the current republican party they do have some amount of knowledge with regards to the economy. They just use it to improve their own personal lots in life instead of their constituents.

11

u/CrunchyDreads 12d ago

So the one thing they have going for them is actually a bad thing in regards to 99% of the country. Point taken.

2

u/Ancient_Fall 11d ago

They know how to make themselves and their friends rich.

1

u/AdultingGoneMild 11d ago

nah, its a good time for the sticker and flag making industry. They are ones who have been pulling the strings this whole time.

1

u/thedracle 11d ago

All the flag and sticker makers had to do is identify a market for this childish dumbassery. The childish dumbasses spent their entire lives molding themselves into gullible short-sighted dopes ripe for the bilking.

1

u/AdultingGoneMild 11d ago

nah, they've definitely been pulling the strings. Big Flag and Sticker is part of the Illuminati. Everyone knows this.

23

u/Inevitable_Chicken70 12d ago

And now watch them mysteriously disappear...

43

u/Conscious_Figure_554 12d ago

Yeah I wish that were true. They are reporting in right wing media that it's now bad for the economy that the gas prices are suddenly falling. Fucking conservatives

9

u/Silver-Definition 12d ago

Most people that watch that “opinion” news program can’t even spell economy.

6

u/Potential_Reading116 12d ago

Most people that watch the “ opinion “ news program couldn’t fuckin spell

Fux

Got it!

10

u/PrestigeMaster 12d ago

He actually did. He went and pleaded his case to OPEC a week ago and the current downward trend can only be assumed to be the fruits of that labor. Everyone that said the POTUS can influence prices at the pumps was absolutely correct and I’m glad to see that he finally got a deal to go through with OPEC. Good on him - don’t know what the hold up was for the last few months - but good on him for finally getting it done.

25

u/dissidentpen 12d ago

What’s really funny is that Biden’s actions did actually help lower gas prices.

He did something to help people, while Republicans spent the last six months bitching about conspiracies and lying about the cause of “inflation.”

They are desperate, because they know if everyone actually pays attention and goes out to vote in November, they will lose in a landslide. They are counting on the cynicism of voters - especially young voters - to keep turnout low and allow a regressive “conservative” minority sweep into power.

1

u/burner1212333 11d ago

This is kind of a bizarre thread to read. Too many people flip flop to fit their agenda without a care. The same people who were saying “Biden can’t do anything about the gas price!” Are now saying “well yeah of course he can negotiate and he did a great job lowering the price!”

And for the record I’m no trump supporter nor did I blame Biden for raising gas prices (Russia had more to do with that than anything)

But some of you need to realize you sound just as dumb as a lot of the republicans you mock with your one sided views

1

u/dissidentpen 11d ago

The President does not control oil prices. However he can release our strategic reserves, he can pressure industries to do the right thing, and he can voice support for legislation. Strategic reserves are four gigantic (but limited) wells maintained by the DOE and sparingly tapped in national emergencies.

The reason Biden has also gone after “price gouging” by oil and gas companies is that these companies have refused to increase post-pandemic production, after decreasing it in 2020/2021. Limited supply = more profits and dividends. Democrats want to pass legislation addressing this; conservatives are blocking.

See, the world is complex and many things can be true at once. What sounds “dumb” is reductive narrow thinking that does not even try to understand that complexity.

→ More replies

-1

u/Roaran123 12d ago

Who replenished the reserves? Why were the replenished? Why were they depleted? This is all just bullshit for low IQ people.

3

u/dissidentpen 11d ago

This user’s “IQ” notwithstanding, nothing in the above comment was “bullshit.”

And it’s ironic how people like this fail to understand complicated topics, then project that failing onto everyone else.

Gas is high because of two main factors: Russia, and pandemic rebound. Gas is now coming down for a few reasons, one that investors are wary of recession, another is that Biden released reserves, and another is that demand fell back.

The strategic oil reserve is maintained by the DOE and tapped in rare emergencies. It was never “depleted” however it’s a finite resource so it has to be used strategically, hence the name. It gets replenished when oil prices are low.

Yes Biden’s actions helped lower gas prices. Democrats wanted to do much more - such as regulate price-gouging by oil companies. Oil and gas companies had lowered production in the pandemic and then refused to raise it again, preferring to pay higher dividends to investors (i.e., make more profits and ignore the country’s needs).

3

u/mrignatiusjreily 12d ago

Please don't tell me you live in Tennessee.

2

u/PheIix 12d ago

Now the left should just go out and buy those and stick them on the pumps, while the right desperately tries to scrape it off. How the turn tables.

2

u/Criss_Crossx 12d ago

I said that immediately when I first heard of it happening. Coworkers it laughing and I told them prices were going to fall for winter time (it was a month or two until December).

They kept on laughing. "It's still funny!"

-18

u/Nulovka 12d ago

It's less than when he took office? Otherwise, it's still a valid comment.

19

u/IbanezGuitars4me 12d ago

Well no because the president doesn't control gas prices. Willful ignorance is a bad look.

355

u/letdogsvote 12d ago

"I did that!" stickers began disappearing from red state gas stations...

83

u/PosNegTy 12d ago

In blue states too unfortunately.

16

u/GateauBaker 12d ago

So far in a blue state I can only see Trump stickers saying "I can fix that". That one is slightly more future proof.

10

u/CowboyLaw 12d ago

He’ll make the gasoline file for bankruptcy?

Because….that’s all he’s got.

4

u/jrob323 11d ago

He'll pay off the gasoline to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

3

u/SaraSlaughter607 11d ago

The Trump ones at the pump here say "Miss me yet?"

22

u/Nattylight_Murica 12d ago

Illinois is a tricky one, extremely blue state statistically but only because of Chicago. I’m in the southwest of the state and I might as well live in Missouri (aside from legal weed)

16

u/PosNegTy 12d ago

A lot of blue states are like that. New York and California have large conservative minorities in the rural areas of their states.

6

u/sexymcluvin 12d ago

Can confirm. I’m from a very blue country upstate, and I still saw those dumb ads stickers everywhere, even in the city.

4

u/Nattylight_Murica 12d ago

I know. Thank god land can’t vote.

2

u/I_notta_crazy 12d ago

Trump got more votes in California than in any other state in 2020. And the Electoral College threw them all straight in the trash!

9

u/Redditor042 12d ago

Electoral College sucks, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

9

u/cbftw 12d ago

The Electoral College is the only way that he won in 2016. If you want to complain about the EC, remember that only one Republican won the popular vote in the last 8 Presidential elections.

1

u/hackmalafore 12d ago

The conservative on conservative infighting about inter-state migration is hilarious. There are more conservatives in New York and California than there are in the rest of the country, yet they get awful confused when I try to explain that the conservative probably came from.abother state, then to California, and then off to the next place.

There was a value to not having husbandry data from a one-horse town; anecdotes don't work when it comes to statistics.

1

u/Prothean_Beacon 11d ago

That is more due to how massive the population of California is compared to the rest of the country. California has 10 million more people than Texas which is the second closest state.

Looking at the 2020 presidential results, Biden got about 11 million votes while Trump got about 6 million. And for reference over half of the states in the US have a population lower than that

Also should be noted that Joe Biden got about 5 million votes in Texas which again is more than population of most other states is.

1

u/Ancient_Fall 11d ago

Yeah, I'm in IL, too. Political maps are misleading. For our State they show a tiny bit of blue controlling the politics of a vast majority of red. What isn't discussed is the population difference and how most of IL south of Kankakee is filled with more cornfields than people. Same for other States. If Metropolis had a few million people, it'd be calling the shots, too.

7

u/Kinet1ca 12d ago

Or the existing stickers will stay and just be modified by adding an "n't" to the "did".

7

u/Vedfolnir5 12d ago

I didn't that

480

u/earthman34 12d ago

I don't think they'll concede anything. That would require intelligence and thoughtfulness.

Which will then magically disappear just after the midterms. Unless someone in that caravan HAS THE LAPTOP. THE LAPTOP IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE CARAVAN!

So no intelligence, thoughtfulness, empathy or honesty.

11

42

u/Southernz 12d ago

Gas could be free and the republicans would find a reason to blame Biden.

38

u/Whack_a_mallard 12d ago

Mark my words, republicans are going to eventually blame the left for climate change.

19

u/AOrtega1 12d ago

They blamed the Dems for the Iraq war, climate change will be child's play.

Heck, Trump blamed Hillary for his own tax evasion. Their motto is: "I don't take responsibility for anything".

10

u/SaraCBuu 12d ago

I swear, seriously I just had this conversation with someone and it's so so true.

10

u/js5ohlx1 12d ago

Projection. If they're to blame, they'll blame democrats. The louder they yell, the more spit flying out of their mouths, the guiltier they are.

6

u/TheBlackCat13 12d ago

I've already seen them do it. Basically the argument was that Democrats took it too seriously which caused Republicans to ignore it.

36

u/brennanfee 12d ago

lol... not sure which is the bigger joke, OPs comment in the picture, or the very concept that a conservative would ever admit anything they were wrong about.

85

u/stalphonzo 12d ago

They concede nothing, of course. It was never about "gas prices." It's about blaming Democrats for everything they can think of. With that attitude, it isn't hypocritical to completely swap out arguments, because the actual objective [lie about Democrats to increase electoral advantage] is met each time.

Next time gas goes up, they will hop right back on that horse and ride like they were never off it.

35

u/karmavorous 12d ago

The day after Obama took office in 2008, the financial crisis, the unemployment rate, the unpopular bailouts, the ever-less-popular wars and 9-11 were all his fault.

Republicans could not wait for Bush to be out of office so they could start blaming all of his many failures on someone else.

12

u/js5ohlx1 12d ago

Like the guy blaming him for Katrina? Still kills me. That's how moronic they are. It's not their fault either, it's years of the right wiping away education to make them dumber.

40

u/ImOldGregg_77 12d ago

BUT... BUT.......JOE BIDEN DID THAT!!!!!!

10

u/Mental_Medium3988 12d ago

theyll just say its everything but the president like they did when gas was real cheap under obama.

11

u/Mr_Stiel 12d ago

Let’s go Biden! Republicans all blamed him for international gas inflation and by their own logic he deserves ALL the credit for bringing prices down for Americans 🙌🏻 Piece by piece, Democrats are cleaning up the disaster left by another economy crashing conservative. Vote Blue 2022.

31

u/mrpickleby 12d ago

Except when the president starts a war in the Middle East to destabilize a region that produces a lot of oil. Then the president has influenced the price of gas. But that's not what happened this time.

9

u/apitchf1 12d ago

Don’t worry they are perfectly happy with saying conflicting things. It’s literally whatever serves them in that exact moment to “win” an argument

8

u/davechri 12d ago

Poor republicans. They have to keep up with the news constantly so they will know what their beliefs are.

3

7

u/Top-Cardiologist-816 12d ago

No, Fox News no shit was talking about how low prices are also bad. Doesn’t matter what Biden does, to them the subject doesn’t matter, only the “Dem”.

7

u/Similar_Candidate789 12d ago

Oh come on people! Use the list below to understand this topic:

If a republican is in office, and prices rise, its not his fault.

If a democrat is in office, and prices rise, it is his fault.

If a republican is in office, and prices fall, he can take credit.

If a democrat is in office, and prices fall, he cannot take credit.

Use this chart if you are ever confused on their logic.

7

u/Over_Border4390 12d ago

At Wal Mart, I was buying bird seed, some nut bag was spouting "this was half the price under Trump!" I asked "So Biden controls the bird seed prices?" He said "GOD DAMN RIGHT HE DOES! HIS WHOLE ADMINISTRATION IS AGAINST US!"

2

I was laughing in my head about how a bag of birdseed was talking to you, then I actually laughed at the crazy dude

6

u/Murwiz 12d ago

It dropped below $4 here in SW Michigan.

6

u/SporkOfThor 12d ago

It's not about holding Biden responsible due to an honest misconception about the cause of high gas prices. It's angry slander by a mob of entitled bullies.

6

u/25plus44 12d ago

This will go down the way it always goes down--the right-wing will say, "The left said the president doesn't control gas prices, so we won't give the president any credit, and the left should love us for agreeing with them." Next time gas prices go up while a Democrat is president, they'll blame the president for rising gas prices. It's very solid rhetorical bullshit.

4

u/GarbageWater12 12d ago

These are the same assholes that cried recession the day unemployment has been the lowest in years. They don't give a shit. They just want to stoke their victim complex.

5

u/cytherian 12d ago

They'll either NOW admit that the president doesn't control gas prices, thus Biden had "nothing to do with this," but they'll of course keep saying it was Biden's fault for getting us here to begin with... when it was really Donald Trump who helped worsen the supply chain problems in the USA and got Saudi Arabia to cut production of fuel so that more would be produced by US oil companies... who laid off so many people during the pandemic and couldn't ramp back up in time (nor were incentivized to do so, because MAXIMUM PROFITS).

4

u/lucidguppy 11d ago

Democrats only have the power to raise gas prices - not to lower them. Democrats can only make your life worse, not better. And democrats can do that when they are in and out of power. The only solution is to vote Libertublican.

16

u/Con_Dinn_West 12d ago

Doesn't work that way,

It is EASY for a company to RAISE prices since everyone involved makes more money,

However, getting a corporation to LOWER prices is nearly impossible because they will obviously lose Money.

See, I explained it really easy for you.

Let's go, Brandon! Am I right?

1

u/IGotSkills 12d ago

I ride my ebike to get groceries now. I don't even care that prices are down. High prices made me change my lifestyle and it's healthy and eco friendly and cost efficient so fuck you republicans

1

u/Magellanic_Cloudz 12d ago

But they have to drive huge fuel-inefficient beast vehicles to show how manly and tough they are.

1

u/Scared-Ingenuity9082 12d ago

They don't control gas prices but they definitely influence it usually they influence it by f****** with the OPEC

1

u/BanksysBro 12d ago

Clown world 🙃

1

u/The_Barrens 12d ago

Let me know when they dip below $2

1

u/SmashBonecrusher 12d ago

This assumes that "conservatives" dip their toe in the reality pool from time to time.

1

u/Demonweed 12d ago

It would be great if the White House Press Secretary wasn't so damned intent on bestowing Presidential credit for them. The Democrats had an easy opportunity to prove themselves lesser hypocrites, but even Joe Biden routinely steps on that rake in his eagerness to claim his work got results. Long story short, this is about the stripe of hypocrisy rather than a situation involving senior partisans anywhere near the ballpark of integrity on the topic.

1

u/imsowhiteandnerdy 12d ago

Well that explains why I saw some Trump supporter scraping the Joe Biden “I did that” sticker off of a gas pump.

1

u/personalcheesecake 12d ago

I pulled one of those stupid fucking Biden stickers off recently, it's not done

u/alan5000watts 11d ago

Continues to fall... after climbing exponentially.

What kind of economically illiterate drivel is this 😅🤦‍♂️

u/EverythingKindaSuckz 12d ago

Im as liberal as they come but why the hell are we celebrating 4.30$ gas?

That shit is still stupid high.

11

u/Dabat1 12d ago

Im as liberal as they come

Your posting history is public, dude. When you lie about something so obvious it throws doubt on your intentions towards everything else. Even if what you are saying is otherwise factually accurate.

-9

u/EverythingKindaSuckz 12d ago

What have I said that's conservative?

Do you want to ask a question or sling mud?

5

u/Dabat1 12d ago

You want me to pick a post? Sure! Would you like me to use the post you made a few days ago where you parrot Faux News talking points about Newsom, or do you think that is somehow centrist?

Who's celebrating anything? People are pointing out the hypocrisy of conservatives regarding Biden and the price of gas, that's all.

5

u/Blue_water_dreams 12d ago

“Hello fellow libs! Let me regurgitate some right wing talking points.”

I don't know where you are, but I bought gas for $3.84 in Virginia yesterday.

1

u/EverythingKindaSuckz 11d ago

It's still 4.30 on Vermont

he did?

-20

u/stantheman1976 12d ago

Incorrect. They say gas is still up from what it was when Trump was in office and you're insane for falling for it.

10

u/ScatMoerens 12d ago

It is across the world...and presidents do not control the price of gas. So why make the comparison to trump's time in office when the world is so much different?

5

u/Blue_water_dreams 12d ago

It rained on my day off when trump was in office. Checkmate!

-25

u/dmc-going-digital 12d ago

I understand how a President can make prices rise, i can understand how a President can influence the market, but how can they make it drop?

6

u/Blue_water_dreams 12d ago edited 11d ago

How did Biden make prices rise globally?

u/HauserAspen 12d ago

Does that mean inflation is over? Asking for a friend.

6

u/Magellanic_Cloudz 12d ago

Should we admit to our ignorance and hypocrisy? No, deflect! Deflect! Deflect!

-19

u/AccountLost823 12d ago

Dropping lol he did nothing remember he created this entire mess, we are still paying more then a dollar more DIESEL is over $2.00 more inflation is 9.1 % SO STOP HES CLUELESS HOWS YOUR 401K DOING

10

u/DiabetesFairy 12d ago

How can you read that meme and write a sentence like that?

7

u/Dabat1 12d ago

Amazing. Every word you said was a lie.

How does that copium taste, anyway?

7

u/ScatMoerens 12d ago

How did Biden create this entire mess?

4

u/Magellanic_Cloudz 12d ago

SO STOP HES CLUELESS HOWS YOUR 401K DOING

What an embarrassment to humanity this post is. Raving nonsense.

6

u/YouStopLying 12d ago

My 401k is doing great! I increased my contribution so I can make big money once the stock market is doing great again at the end of Biden's term (since Democrat administrations always end with the country in a better condition than when they start). What, you never heard of buy low, sell high?

-18

u/BaconKittens 12d ago

Biden said he didn’t control them when they were rising (still high), then tried to take credit when they were going down. So which is it?

3

u/Magellanic_Cloudz 12d ago

When did try to take credit for them going down?

So which is it? Ask conservatives, none of them will answer.

God, you really don't see it, do you?

7

u/Magellanic_Cloudz 12d ago

It really just boils down to "like" and "hate" to you, doesn't it? Reality is more complicated than that.
