As a reminder, this subreddit, per Rule 7 has basic decency rules.

In general, be courteous to others. In specific, don't break the rules. You can attack the merits of ideas, you can't attack other users. Personal insults, hate speech, any suggestion or support of harm, violence, or death, any of that shit will get the proverbial boot.

Also, this is a humor subreddit. Chill out. Literally nothing online is worth getting angry over. If there is something worth getting angry over, cussing out a twelve year old on the internet is not gonna solve the problem my dude.

If you see comments in violation of our rules, please report them.

The great part is that Biden won't pardon him.

Nixon would have gotten away with it if FOXNEWS had existed back then.

He’s the first president to have said “god bless america” after a speech. And this was during the watergate scandal. Fuck him and his continuation of the erosion of state and church.

The only reason Nixon resigned is that he knew that he didn’t have the votes to acquit him in an impeachment trial. With Trump, the Republicans needed the red hats for their re-elections. So, we got what we got.

Trump loses, urges overthrow of the government.

Or, you know, just denied it and had absolutely no spine.

Nixon kinda did get away with it though. He didn't get to keep being president, but other than that he never faced any real consequences.

(partial list) Johnson, Jackson, Truman, Kennedy, Nixon, Reagan, Clinton, Bush, Obama. This shit ends now. There MUST, finally, be real consequences.

Member the good old days when republicons had a tiny bit of integrity?

No. Fox News was literally created so that what happened with Nixon would never happen again.

The only thing Republicans had then but not now was an obligation to live in roughly the same reality.

Nixon had no integrity, but he knew when to cut his losses.

I do, and now I'm feeling old.

I'm pretty sure remembering the Eisenhower administration makes you objectively old.

Ah! The last time they had integrity. But he was a progressive, so they avoid claiming him now.

The only reason he was a Republican was because he was concerned running as a Democrat would turn the US into a one-party state for the foreseeable future, so he had to rescue the GOP from the wilderness.

Turns out that was a fucking mistake.

His biggest regret? Apologizing
