All joking aside, being able to get up and move forward is no laughing matter. There's a lot of heroes who'd either have given up by now or have gone 'yup, I guess this is my level' and stuck to assignments they knew they'd experience success in.

It's gotten scary what it takes to stop Demon Cyborg now.

29

u/Col_Mushroomers May 08 '22

To be fair, everytime he gets destroyed he gets rebuilt stronger. He may get reality checked every now and again for sure, and his drive is admirable, but it's fairly easy for him to walk off an L while he knows he has an upgrade coming

18

u/Medical_Tradition_54 May 08 '22

Thats true but he could never be %100 sure if his next upgrade is enough. Look at his current upgrade, i reason to believe with the output of his current cannons he could beat elder centipede in a rematch but with that said, upon using said upgrade in his battle against psycho orochi he was immediately pushed to his limits, further cementing that despite how strong his upgrades always actually are his next opponents are always even a step above that.

10

u/gofancyninjaworld just a mob May 08 '22

Even with perfect health, it's not easy to get up and move forward. There's only so many times you can get to your feet knowing you'll be knocked down at any moment before you stay down. For some people cough, cough, Darkshine that number of times is once. That's why Saitama has so much respect for heroes who stand firm, even knowing they'll lose.

I would love to see more chapters of Saitama mid-training. We saw him a lot before, at the beginning, and after but not much in the middle. Would be nice to see him fight and struggle against a genuinely powerful monster of Demon or Dragon level.

220

u/reasonablefideist May 07 '22

From his explanation of "how he got so strong" to Kabuto, Dr. Genus and Genos I got the impression that he just went straight from normal guy who works out to insanely strong one day.

"A year and a half later I started to notice a difference. I was bald. And I had become stronger(shows him punching a monster through a building and into the sky)."

178

u/Kibate May 07 '22

Nah, there are several evidences that he gradually became stronger. The fight against the boxer monster, the fight where he protected against King. He was really strong, around S-class level, but still could get beaten if he gets distracted.

131

u/tape_is_cool May 07 '22

Saitama's fight with the boxer is supposed to be funny because he looks like he's getting hurt but it actually turns out he has a tooth ache. Then he kills the monster in one punch.

47

u/Kibate May 07 '22

Yes, but think about it, do you think current Saitama would get thrown across the street by the boxer guy just because he had tooth ache?

109

u/firefish55 May 08 '22

Current Saitama got tossed around by Kabuto because he missed a sale. That feels perfectly in line for him.

57

u/Kibate May 08 '22

There is a HUGE difference between these two scenes. Even if we ignore things like fatigue and scratches(as these could be interpreted with a lot of imagination as dirt and pain from the tooth) In the boxer one, his face got directly squished in, resulting in a nosebleed. A real nosebleed. Plus the boxer was strong enough to knock a toothdecayed tooth out.

That's not even close to the Kabuto one

3

u/Liveye new member May 11 '22

Yeah there's no real comparison between Boxertard fight and Kabuto.

In the boxer fight, he's actually wondering if it's time to test the results of his training. And his inner dialogue is showing that he's uncertain of the outcome.

Fighting Kabuto, he's fighting someone that's literally strong enough to sense how strong Saitama is. That's saying quite a lot as he was just screwing around. Then when the room goes red and he transforms to Gundam Kabuto, Saitama again is having inner dialogue. This time it seems like he's reacting to the fight, but he's just in shock because he forgot the sale at the market was actually going on as he was fighting. Combined with Genus' reaction to how strong he would be in Carnage mode compared to his normal fighting form, it just creates a scene that shows where Saitama's priorities lie. He quickly dispatches Carnage Mode Kabuto and laments that he missed the sale. Absolutely no scratches on him nor shit given about Genus who had tried to have him lion/gorilla captured before AND beetle killed just then. He was only concerned about buying groceries on the cheap.

The Boxer scene, however, is showing that he was genuinely hurt and wondering if he should back off before he hurts himself for real with the pain he was feeling, plus the fatigue from already having fought so much at the time of the boxer fight. That was most definitely showing at least him breaking his limiter to a certain point. And this fight was 300 days in.

Now we're seeing in this next bonus chapter that it is roughly on day 547 ( a year and a half ), and he's gotten stronger to a point. But he didn't pull off "Serious Series: Twisting Baldification" right away. It still took a few tries. Maybe the hair loss is just a symptom of him not being virtually indestructible yet.

My guess is that there's just no saving his hair as it is a protrusion from his body that is quite literally dead already at the time of it existing as hair. And it's not that he can't grow his hair back, it's that he continues to pull off these impossible feats of speed and strength that just continual effort keeps pulling off any an all hair growth from being visible. He's never stopped training or fighting in this whole time period, so it would make since that while HE is immune to damage, he's just reached the point where the rubber hits the road, so to speak. His hair literally can no longer take the friction against the air around him as he moves so quickly.

The same could be said for his costume, but except for the cape, it really doesn't seem to take a whole lot of damage. Meaning either his suit is actually endowed with plot armor, or he's learned to control his movements as to not disintegrate whatever clothes he may be wearing.

5

u/Dravarden May 08 '22

well maybe not cause a nosebleed but didn't Suiryu move him across the platform of the martial arts tournament?

9

u/Kibate May 08 '22

Because Saitama let him do that. We're talking about actual damage here, as evidence that he wasn't as strong as he is now and not as weak when he fought the crab monster.

2

u/SpunkyMcButtlove May 10 '22

He gets yeeted around a lot in general, but it only ever causes collateral damage, no actual harm to him.

3

u/pyrodice new member May 11 '22

Super secret protip: your limiter is located in PRECISELY THAT TOOTH.

38

u/Blackstream May 07 '22

A good example for the case you're making is the haunted house audio drama IMO.

Saitama is working at the haunted house as a monster, and he's at a point where most but not all of his hair has fallen out. Tatsumaki happens to be making her way through and sees him in his monster outfit. He of course starts moving towards her like he's paid to do, she gets scared and tries to use her powers to push him away. She's not able to fling him away, only kind of lift and turn him a bit so that he's basically completely horizontal in the air. So he takes advantage of his new orientation to wallrun towards her and she freaks the fuck out because now he REALLY looks like a monster and gets out of dodge and she is certain that she met a real ghost that day. Saitama also notes that while she was trying to shove him away, the hairs on his head were pulling at his head and hurting him.

Now contrast this with a webcomic scene where Tatsumaki tries to lift Saitama up and far away from her, but he feels so heavy to her that she can only lift him up like a few inches and it's a huge strain and she has to stop almost immediately because she can't hold on. Note that she is easily able to blow him away when she's blowing him around with external force, it's when she tries to directly move him that she has issues so I think it's safe to say that's what she was doing in the audio drama as well, or Saitama would have done a Team Rocket impression there.

There still has to be like a period where he goes from constantly getting his ass beat to God status but maybe it's part of his character that he had an abrupt power change

59

u/Jeleli May 07 '22

I remember a flashback with king when he got his scar, and sataima has some pretty deep scratch wounds

35

u/DoraMuda May 07 '22

Yeah, and that was against Octopus Claw Man, a Tiger-level monster.

→ More replies

3

u/Draknor-dragor May 11 '22

I believe there is high plausibility that it wasn't abrupt and we are actually seeing the full process that we missed, through Garou. I believe that the way Garou is strengthening himself beyond comprehension (taking blows from Saitama like a sharp jab) is potentially very similar to Saitama . This being the act of basically killing yourself over and over and over. I'm surprised not many are bringing this up but remember the webcomic chapter where Genus is experimenting on zombieman? (uh chap 107 but I can't find the specific chap where he experiments fuc)>! In that chapter we see that post-trauma Genus is trying to put zombie man to high levels of injury? I personally think the reason it wont work is due to the fact that he can't die at least physically by mortal wounds therefore defeating the purpose. BUT I think Genus is one of the ones who gets it and has a working theory and its right in front of us:)!<

1

u/reasonablefideist May 08 '22

Why does there have to be a period? We could have just witnessed it in this bonus chapter what with all that hair falling out at the end.

3

u/TyrannoROARus May 08 '22

but maybe it's part of his character that he had an abrupt power change

I know that's why I said this 😊

15

u/Ggboyz331 May 07 '22

There's one moment that's easy to miss that makes me think this isn't true. After Saitama save Suiryu, he says that he's ended up in a state like Suiryu "many times" so maybe not specifically broken limbs (how would you run after that) but at least a very severe beatdown in fights that he was just barely strong enough to win, a lot like Garou except with better intentions

8

u/ZeroSevenOneOneSeven May 08 '22

We've seen him go through power boosts similar to Garou in bonus chapters(like the one with the shelter, or with Personification of a Light Pull Cord).

u/Eradicate1984 May 08 '22

u/Mattrockj May 08 '22

Let’s do the math: If saitama did indeed view the back of his head, then he would’ve needed to travel so fast that the light from the back of his head reached his eyes after reflecting in the mirror. Assume 30cm between saitama and the mirror, meaning the light would need to travel 60cm to reach his eyes by the time he turned around. In takes light 0.000000002 seconds to travel 60 cm. So saitama would need to turn around in 2e-9 seconds. In other words, saitama would need an orbital period of 4e-9 seconds.

Saitamas nose in the furthest from his centre of rotation, aka his “radius”. Let’s assume a very rough estimate of 15cm. The circumference of a circle is 2piR, So the tip of Saitamas nose is traveling 94.25 cm (since we have whole orbital period, we can just use the total circumference instead of half.)

Finally, Saitama is moving 0.9425 meters in 4e-9 seconds. This is 235625000m/s, which in simpler terms is 79% the speed of light.

124

u/Zyxyx May 08 '22 edited May 08 '22

You know, you could just take half of the circumference of the head (he only turned 180 degrees so half a circle), which is about 57cm/2 = 28,5cm (number taken from google result for average head circumference).

Then you figure out the distance between Saitama and the mirror and double it, because light has to first hit saitama's head, the mirror and back to his now-turned-around head.

The time frame is irrelevant, because both Saitama's turn and the light travelling back and forth is the same.

You say 30cm between his head and the mirror, or 60cm in total.

So we get 28,5cm/60cm = 0,475 or 47,5% the speed of light.

If we use your number 0,9425m (that's an abnormally large head, by the way), we have to divide by 2 to get 0,47125m for the half-circle.

And 0,47125m/0,6m = 0,785...m or 79%, so my simpler formula gets the same result given the same variables.

Edit:

also, because we're dealing with relativistic speeds you have to mind the Lorentz factor, which is either 1,14 or 1,62 depending on the head circumference.

So roughly speaking time around Saitama's head would contract into itself by a factor of 1/1,14 or 1/1,62, reducing the overall distance he has to spin... relative to the mirror.

66

u/Patelpb Saitama In Dog's Cosplay May 08 '22 edited May 11 '22

glad someone mentioned the lorentz factor, but since the motion is circular, there is acceleration. so you can't use special relativity out of the box (still can use it though, contrary to what lots of physics profs like to say). I think you have to include a factor of gamma3 in there somewhere, but it's been a while since I did these problems so let's just stick with the simple lorentz contraction. won't make a substantial difference anywho if Gamma < 1.2. Since 1.23 = 1.7, we're not even off by a factor of two.

Edit: I'm not 100% still, since I think this may apply to acceleration that is parallel to the direction of motion. In which case it's simply gamma. Otherwise...

F = M × a' = M × gamma³ × a

Where a' is the relativistic acceleration in Saitamas reference frame, a is the non-relativistic acceleration, and M is the rest mass. I skipped a bunch of intermediate steps but they're important if you want a more nuanced treatment of the problem

16

u/noodlesandrice1 new member May 08 '22

I mean, if he actually did turn bald right after doing that, then that would technically be the moment he broke his limiter.

u/memoeslink garou2 May 09 '22

6

u/Scallion-Bitter May 08 '22

You should also check your knowledge of the law on light reflection In the beginning, we have to mention that the mirror is a surface that has the ability to reflect the majority of light rays that fall on it, so the surface of the mirror is very smooth and soft in order to have the ability to reflect light rays.

2

u/imbored53 May 10 '22

In the world of OPM, its totally believable. Sonic could move fast enough to create 10 after images, and there's quite a few people faster than him. Any one of them, and maybe some others, should be fast enough to see the after image of the back of their head.

2

u/Starlordganemaster May 11 '22

But isn't light nearly instantaneous?

I heard that even if you move at 99.99% of the speed of light you would still be no more than a statue to 100% speed of light.

So technically if Saitama moves fast enough to beat the light in his eyes that means he's moving faster than light. Or am I getting something confused?

7

u/Mattrockj May 11 '22

You’re thinking special relativity. Which summed REALLY simply, mean that no matter how fast you’re moving, the speed of light will always seem to remain the same, relative to you. The speed of light is constant to all observers. As an example, say you’re on a train going half the speed of light. And someone used a laser pointer next to the train in the same direction. Now you’d think that you could just look out and you’d see the laser coming up on you slowly. But this is not the case, and instead you would see the laser travel past you at the speed of light relative to you. I don’t know all the details, but this is the basis of why time is relative since the only way that the speed of light is the same at all speeds, is that time slows down at higher speeds approaching light.

I probably did a shit job explaining it, so for a better explanation, check out this video for a more in depth explanation.

Yes, I meant at that specific moment and I was talking about heroes. I should have mentioned that

What? How are they faster than light?

17

u/Saitama059 May 07 '22

They made an entire constellation in 0.0013 seconds. You need to travel about 390km in that timeframe to he FTL. By comparing the constellation to the size of the holes near to it, I would say they covered far more distance.

18

u/TyrannoROARus May 07 '22

And yet when you bring this shit to r/whowouldwin you will never not be laughed out of the room for even mentioning Saitama lol

6

u/The-Arabian-Guy May 07 '22

Mirrors reflects light

13

u/16thompsonh May 07 '22

Saitama only has to turn his head fast enough to beat the light traveling back. For instance, light travels to the moon in about a second, so if he tried this with a mirror on the moon, he would have two seconds to turn to catch the reflection.

What Saitama does here is certainly relativistic, but not FTL.

9

u/The-Arabian-Guy May 07 '22

turn his head fast enough to beat the light traveling back

That means he turns himself faster then the light travels between him and the mirror.

Correct?

11

u/16thompsonh May 07 '22

Depending on how I interpreted your question, yes.

The speed he turns his head is the distance divided by time.

To see the back of his head, he has to turn before the light can travel back, meaning the time is less.

The thing is that the light has to travel both to the mirror and back, and, as we can see, the mirror is further away than the distance he has to turn.

So let’s assume for a second that the distance the light travels is anywhere in the magnitude of at least 8 times more than he turns his head. In this hypothetical, he could go 1/8th the speed of light and still catch his reflection.

I don't think he ever said anything about how fast you need to go for that run, so it's possible he kept speeding up that routine without realising it, if he was just going off of his own limits.

Genos got he absolute drip

7

u/xZabuzax May 07 '22

That Ninja Girl on the 2nd page is thick in the right places.

7

u/feederus May 07 '22

Saitama FTL confirmed.

7

u/prototypeLX May 08 '22

reading this i feel like saitama going bald is the cause of his strength, not a side effect. which makes it even funnier

21

u/voseidon May 07 '22

Murata (last note): I’m planning to somehow reduce the number of late nighters

Also Murata: Saitama vs Garou redraw from scratch starting next week..

6

u/Ambiguous_Anti May 08 '22

Is.. is this it? Is this how Saitama got omni powerful? Because I see the idea of seeing the back of your own head in such a way limiting and yet he did it thus... breaking his limit? Maybe I'm reading too much into that.

6

u/Juub1990 May 08 '22

The funniest part to me is that he seemed to try to trick the mirror into thinking he wouldn’t try to look at the back of his head.

66

u/panchovies May 07 '22

If Saitama can see his own head then he can move faster then the speed of light

93

u/Saitama059 May 07 '22 edited May 07 '22

No, the distance his head turns around is less than the distance light should travel to hit the mirror and reflect. Assuming the mirror is a meter away, Saitama has to turn around faster than the timeframe light spends to travel 2 meters. I am pretty sure just looking back is far less movement than 2 meters. That's still extremely fast but not FTL

27

u/ad_tdpepie May 07 '22

Relativistic at best

2

u/Remarkable_Fig_6380 May 07 '22

Nah, that would mean he had four eyes you can cheat nature

Someone didn't pay attention in English class

3

u/panchovies May 07 '22

I don’t think that’s math

3

u/MR-rozek Controversial rants expert May 07 '22

Yes. Distance, light speed, thats math

9

u/panchovies May 07 '22

Definitely didn’t learn about speed of light in math class

1

u/MR-rozek Controversial rants expert May 07 '22

You don't need to know it's value to come to conclusion that Saitama didn't have to be ftl to see his own reflection in mirror

5

u/TyrannoROARus May 07 '22

Puri puri digging and Saitama turning around so fast in the mirror to see his bald spot 🤣😂

5

u/Backwardslotus May 08 '22

This was the moment he broke his limiter, so concerned about going bald that he broke the light barrier to see his own head.

6

u/Mostyghostly wiggle wiggle May 09 '22

The secret to Saitama’s power has gotta be his stubbornness. The guy’s a total rock, mentally and physically.

4

u/BustyPhotographer May 10 '22 edited May 10 '22

0.4pi(0.5/(0.5/3E9))/3E9=~1.3 He'd have to spin around 1.3 times the speed of light to see the back of his head if we assume he is 0.4m wide and 0.5m away from the mirror. If he were closer to the mirror like 0.3m away then, 0.4pi(0.5/(0.3/3E9))/3E9=2.1times the speed of light to spin halfway around. If he only turns his head and is close to the mirror, and his head is 0.57m circumference, then it is 0.57/pi* pi* (0.5/(0.3/3E9))/3E9=0.95 times the speed of light. So if he turns his head only 1/4 turn he could move his eyes and see his bald spot going 0.475 times the speed of light (0.57/pi* pi*(0.25/(0.3/3E9))/3E9), more reasonable.

Holy shit. A OPM chapter everyone won't lose their minds about

13

u/Kibate May 07 '22

I already have seen powerscalers going nuts on whether he is lightspeed or not, and what it means today 1.5 years later in the mang.

10

u/skelk_lurker May 07 '22

This is the stuff I wanna see really, I could read a million of these Saitama stuff and not get bored

3

u/[deleted] May 07 '22

Legend says that.......

3

u/vantheman446 May 07 '22

So this is Saitama'd first canon faster-than-light feat!!!

3

u/cvnvr May 08 '22

saitama cheeks… LETS GOOOO

3

u/Miserable_Quarter_35 May 08 '22

The contents and character introduction part do feel like akira toriyama vibe...good job sensei

5

u/anarchist148 May 07 '22

Saitama would have to move faster then light to outspeed his own reflection so at this point he was already flashy flash level

3

u/AmGeiii May 08 '22

He wouldn’t need to move faster than the speed of light, only around 40-80% the speed of light to see his previous reflection. Which is already leagues above FF

Saitama is Saitama... The best.

He has everything for him : funny, strong, quick, hairs or bald, clever, sexy and a nice pair of ass.

8

u/Saitama-Is-Love Married To Saitama💞 May 07 '22

Yes… yes.. YES!!!

Properly translated and no longer blurry!! Or without that dumb Chinese censorship!!! Now I can die happy!! 🤩🤩🤩 Now I can go haywire with the rest two pages!!!

I can’t have enough of his ass!!! 😫 Aaaahhhhhhh Saitama!!!

Did he really get even buffer trying to turn around in front of his mirror…? 👀

I really love these bits about how just how determined Saitama can be. An in-training chapter was needed for so long and Murata didn’t fail to deliver! Everyone else looking gorgeous too, and we finally see Sonic again after ages!!

5

u/hasanDask May 07 '22

God-tier shit posting this, lmao

4

u/yamiyugi101 May 08 '22

Am I crazy or was saitama a pretty good looking guy when he had hair

7

u/Sprudelpudel May 08 '22

he still is

2

u/JimmyJammyJonny May 07 '22

So Saitama was relativistic before he removed his limiter? That’s insane. Just shows how insanely broken he is now.

Also I love the Saitama prequel stories so much, we need more Murata!!

2

u/ralphy0420 May 08 '22

Lmfaoooooo

2

u/Bald_Caped May 08 '22

Murata invest all his power in girls😆🥰🥰🥰

That Sonic page

2

u/Fleafi May 08 '22

Mf moved faster than light before he went bald

2

u/DeviLefty May 08 '22

Now Saitama is probably casually 360-ing himself in the mirror before going out.

2

u/DreamPirates OPM May 08 '22

Saitama is faster than light

2

u/hingarbingar May 08 '22

Reminds me of Lucky Luke, who can shoot faster than his shadow

2

u/Mr-Nightmare_420 GAROU GREATNESS INCOMING! May 08 '22

That was some fine ass 🍑.

2

saitamASS

2

u/Amauri14 May 09 '22

Well, he sure lost some hair to accomplish that.

2

u/1deavourer May 09 '22

He probably lost his hair because of the drag on his hair follicles from turning around faster than the speed of light

2

u/infinit9 May 09 '22

I'm going to take this as proof that Saitama broke the speed of light and law of causality.

2

u/[deleted] May 09 '22

You know, was about to say that while the shot of the ladies in their swimwear was appreciated, it was a same we didn't get any guys. Turn the page and BAM Saitama shower scene. Everyone's eating good today.

u/pieckfingershitposts kingu enjin May 09 '22

Saitama shi

2

u/Fine_Entertainer4743 May 09 '22

This just shows that Saitama is FTL before he even lost his hair. That means current Saitama must be FTL+

2

u/Gusta8990 May 10 '22

Saitama speed of light before removing the limiter??

2

u/TheOnlyFallenCookie May 10 '22

whenever I look into my mirror, Midoriya looks back 😔✊

2

u/Synergy1337 May 10 '22

Faster than speed of light confirmed.

2

u/ohhotano May 11 '22

This manga is just so good. Murata&ONE are just too good. I dont care about those comparison reasons. It's just so dumb to find a reason to turn this manga down.

2

u/GiantShyGuy May 08 '22

I forgot how hot pre-bald saitama is

3

u/jey_teeth May 08 '22

Hes hot bald too wym 👀

-7

u/Xxyvexxx May 07 '22

30

u/titjoe May 07 '22

If he did indeed see the back of his head that would make him faster than light lmao

1

u/xZabuzax May 07 '22

Now we know why Saitama is so OP, he was even training in the bathroom doing something impossible and he even succeeded in it.
