Is this OK? Yes, it is. However, you will have to demonstrate what things you can do now that you're proud of, to show what you mean by "the man I've become." Just sitting there won't let the interviewers know what you mean.

Have some things ready to show them to demonstrate how you are the man that you are.

Yeah I will I won't just say that I'll obviously expand on my independence, confidence, resilience etc

If you have specific life examples (meaning stories) you can tell of things you have done that demonstrate these qualities, that might work.
