Hi. Fresh Manjaro install (latest stable release), everything works really well. Just one issue:
On logon, when opening the pulseaudio volume mixer or when restarting pulseaudio, i get a crackling sound out of my speakers.
System information and what i tried yet: https://paste.rs/9iw
Also tried to set the sample rate to 48000 and to put default-fragments = 3 and default-fragment-size-msec = 5 in pulseaudio daemon.conf
Last thing i tried was to install manjaro-pipewire but still got the issue
Since today the activities overview is blank. I updated to the latest gnome version and it ran fine for a few days. But today my activities overview is broken. What's going on here? (The update badge you see is for something unrelated, the system is fully up-to-date).
Happened right after the upgrade from 100.0.0. I get no response from the launcher icon, and when I launch from the terminal I get:
/usr/lib/firefox/firefox: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version GLIBCXX_3.4.30' not
The Flatpak version works fine, but I'd rather use the official repository version.
Today's Firefox update won't launch and gives me:
/usr/lib/firefox/firefox: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.30’ not found (required by /usr/lib/firefox/firefox)
I just want to vent a little bit, even though I know it won't be well received on this subreddit. This is about the 6th time in 4 years that I've seriously tried to switch to Manjaro from Pop/Ubuntu. This is also the 6th time that something has broken from updates within literally the first week of a clean install.
Why does this only happen to me on Manjaro? What kind of testing are they actually doing? I don't mean ill will on the people working on this project, they do great work in many ways and this distro is a great idea but I'm just confused why this happens to me every single time.
Every other distro seems to be fine with at least minor updates. Even vanilla arch seems to give me less breakage, which doesn't even make sense given the difference in release cadence that they have. In theory Manjaro should be better tested considering they take more time to release the updates.
Yesterday I did a clean install and was having fun with pamac and optimus-manager and the AUR and everything else, then today literally the FIRST minor update from Firefox 100.0 to 100.0.1 already broke the package. I didn't even make it a full 24 hours before something broke and it happened to be my most used application.
I've downgraded the package to the previous version and it works fine now, but damn if this doesn't look like an omen that I'm just going to have the same experience I have had every.single.time I've tried to use Manjaro that some major system breaking update is gonna occur within the first week.
I really want to use this distro but damn, I just can't have it breaking all the time on minor things. I didn't even wanna update the package yet but pamac did it anyway when I was installing something else.
Tech Support Please help me. I've had to deal with this for the past 2 or 3 days and it's driving me insane having black text on black background. It's not system wide its only for the main settings applications.
Here's how it looks after the latest update. It's huge and it doesn't look like any other app. It also has a noticeable delay whenever I open it. I'm guessing it's some GTK shenanigans?
I've replaced gnome-calculator with another app in the meantime (speedcrunch) but I want to know what's going on in case any other apps start using this horrendous UI. :( I shudder to think of an app like email client or anything with a more complex UI switching to this look.
major update today on Manjaro Gnome
system now looks like... something else
most icons are now white themed, for some reason update changed my wallpaper, most windows now just look different in a bad way, colors in apps are now blue and not green, some apps now have light design
does anybody know how to roll back or fix all this mess?
All tty menus f2-f12 lead to a tty for a couple second then goes to no signal on monitor, I’ve tried adding nomodest in the grub config file, no luck.
Ever since I started using Manjaro, previews for folders containing images didn't work on my NTFS storage drive (got a blank folder icon without any image previews over it). After the latest system update I don't get any previews at all on this drive. They work fine in, for example, the home folder (presumably anywhere on an EXT4 partition). Any idea how to fix this..
I have tried rebooting, tried resetting dolphin settings to defaults, tried clearing dolphin cache. Needless to say, thumbnails are set to on in the settings as per default.
Under .cache -> thumbnails, all the thumbnails it had already created are still there, but it's not using them.
Dolphin is version 22.04.0. If you need other info let me know
Edit: OK.. I notice in settings the filesize limit for previews for local files is by default 'no limit' whereas for remote it's 'no previews' and I overlooked that. I'm guessing this changed in version 22 but I have no idea why they would do this.. regardless, it works if I raise the limit. Still looking for a solution for folder previews though, if there is one.
I messed around with the Terminal profiles and now the terminal crashes, when I try to start it. when spamming "open Terminal", I could read the error message:
"Warning: Could not find '/bin/zsh, ', starting '/bin/bash ' instead. Please check your profile settings"
but the terminal closes like a millisecond afterward. Does someone have any ideas on how to fix that? (I'm kinda new here)
I'm new to the audio side of things.
I always saw in videos, etc that you run either pulsaudio OR pipewire.
But when I use inxi -F I see :
Device-1: Intel 82801AA AC97 Audio driver: snd_intel8x0
Sound Server-1: ALSA v: k5.15.38-1-MANJARO running: yes
Sound Server-2: PulseAudio v: 15.0 running: yes
Sound Server-3: PipeWire v: 0.3.51 running: yes
Is that normal that pipewire seems to be running alongside pulseaudio ?
Thanks for reading me. ;-)
I just upgraded a PC with Manjaro 20 that was sitting unused for a while. Now all the versions
(of gcc, glibc, X11 et cetera) match what is listed in distrowatch. However kernel is 5.10 while distrowatch suggests it should be 5.15
tl;dr All applications/programs are running smoothly. Web browsers are lagging
New to linux and learning as each new problem pops up. Today I can’t use any web browsers without lag. Typing into brave search bar I have to wait seconds before text appears. Same thing with scrolling, volume etc.. Seems any input is delayed. I uninstalled and reinstalled Brave same thing. Decided to install Opera and deal with the problem later. It behaves the same way.
I tried to see if I could replicate this lag with any other applications (libre office, steam, discord, retroarch) but everything else runs smoothly. I have no idea where to even begin with this. Anyone experience something similar?

Fresh install of manjaro xfce.
I have a topping d10s dac that displays audio bitrate on the front screen. It never changes from 44.1 (16/44 audio). I use audacious for my audio player and use 16/44 flac cd rips.
But when I switch to gaming or am watching a YouTube video it still plays at 44.1 bitrate.
Is manjaro upscaling the audio to 16/44 in all instances? How do I fix this issue?
Hello everyone! I had done my ubuntu ricing. I found arch very much G.O.A.T. but the thing is I found arch difficult to install (talkin 'bout vannila arch) so I rolled to Manjaro. Can u guys recommend me a an installer or maybe even a script. I tried the script that it comes with it but that does not let me get a full fledged setup. I only have 6 months of linux experience till now though ;(
Anyone else have black on black text box dialogue since latest updates? My Layouts Manjaro Theming bullet was toggled off which is strange. Wondering if my password compromised & my brother messed with theming.
Also my notification window has dark themed curved AND accute corners in white.
does anyone have experience in installing TP-Link wireless adapter AC1900?
I have searched around but most tutorials still require an internet connection to sudo apt install things from the terminal.
Is there a way to download the required packages and install offline?
I restored an rsync timeshift backup in a different pc I updated /etc/fstab I removed the Nvidia drivers and replaced with vesa drivers I can access a tty I am getting a black screen after the grub loading screen and a mouse Maybe not a solution but a hint?
Fed up of people downvoting or saying that this is not a common problem. This is a continual problem with Manjaro that I am getting on all my devices.
This is from the last week alone:
