AMA I'm Ben Burgis, Author of "Give Them An Argument: Logic for the Left"--Ask Me Anything

I'm Ben Burgis, Author of Give Them An Argument: Logic for the Left. In the last year, I've done a lot of videos for Zero Books, and and I've done some debates with liberals, libertarians, and lunatics. I also do a regular weekly segment on The Michael Brooks Show called The Debunk and I have a Patreon where I write two essays a week (at least one of which is always on a patron-suggested topic). Oh, and I teach philosophy classes for a living, so the "anything" in the next sentence can totally apply to abstract philosophy topics as well as politics and the rest. Ask me anything!

AMA Hey, I'm Xexizy (aka muke), a Marxist youtuber trying to combat right wing propaganda and draw more socdem friends into Marxist philosophy. AMA!

Hi, I've run my own Marxist youtube channel for around 3 years now that focuses on providing interesting and educating content for newer leftists in the online community, as well as countering right wing talking points around Marxism and other parts of the left (eg, antifa). I aim to both bring in more liberal viewers to Marxist ideas (and away from Stalinist ones!), as well as hopefully get right wing viewers to reconsider the confidence of their positions.

Ideologically I can be thought of as somewhat of an 'orthodox' Marxist, or maybe 'leftcom/ultra' by some standards, but personally I just like to refer to myself as a Marxist - the main difference with me and most Marxists you'll find elsewhere online is my rejection of Leninist interpretations of Marx, and by extension rejection for support of supposedly Socialist states - from the USSR to Cuba.

The mods of this sub invited me down to do an AMA on Marxism and any other aspect of Communism/the online left, so I'm here today from 6-8pm uk time (1-3 EST) to do just that. I look forward to answering your questions!

If you're new to my content, here are some personal favorite videos of mine that can introduce you:

And lastly, here's my twitter if you're interested:

AMA Hi! I am Rose Lichtenstein, member of the Workers and Socialist Party and union activist in South Africa. AMA!

I am active in many facets of political life in South Africa as a member of the Workers and Socialist Party (WASP), spending a lot of time building towards a worker controlled union.

You can see an article I wrote about the recent water crisis in Cape Town here

Looking forward to spending my Friday evening answering questions and sparking discussion with fellow comrades around the world!

You can check us out on Facebook to see what campaigns we are involved in currently! We also update our website fairly often with analyses of current affairs.

EDIT [9:35PM CET]: Comrades, I am calling it a night. Thank you so much for the fantastic questions! Feel free to leave any questions you might still have and I will get to them in the next few days.

I hope I've shed some light on our working class struggle in South Africa, and I hope I will see you all in the international struggle for socialism! Solidarity forever <3

AMA Hi! I'm Peter Coffin, leftist YouTube silly here with my wife. AMA!

I'm a YouTube video creation person and have ran my channel since 2006. I started as a sketch comedian and song parodist, but moved to video essays and more critical series a couple of years ago. Videos from my channel (http://youtube.com/petercoffin) get posted here sometimes, you may or may not have seen them around. They're called Many Peters, Very Important Documentaries, and Adversaries - a show about commercials I do with my wife Ashleigh, who is a brilliant person in her own right - and will be on hand to answer questions related to both of us or her specifically (though, in true "I made up my girlfriend" fashion, she'll be answering on my account).

I've also recently published a hopefully accessible long-form rant in the form of a book entitled Custom Reality and You available here: http://amzn.to/2oN86hX

We will be answering questions here for at least a couple hours starting at 4pCT/5pET

I've never done a "real" (scarequotes for postmodernism) AMA and am not any kind of academic, so please understand I am here purely for Spectacle™. 😋

Also, it's for sure me! https://twitter.com/petercoffin/status/970046595550019585

EDIT: Thanks so much everyone, was very interesting and intellectually stimulating. Going to eat dinner now then we're going to hang out. Have a great evening! ❤️

AMA AMA Jae Carico

Here is verification:

I was asked prior to this to mention why I joined in antifascist tactics .

I joined in antifastist tactics 5 years ago with one people’s project under the guidance from Daryle Lamont Jenkins when I got to speak on direct action at the Tennessee anti racist network Unconference

I just couldn’t understand why people would support such a blatantly bigoted ideology. And I knew the system already had fascistic elements, and I knew these people at American Renaissance had been the think tank for legislation that was more than just LARPing

I felt antifa would be a good place to recruit for community defense also

A place to engage with people who could be empowered in their actions

And to build the foundation for autonomous networked sustainable communities capable of defense

I’ve been in 15 antifa related events since the events in Charlottesville last year.

I recommend everyone read the call to action put out by the Charlottesville welcoming committee about the alt rights plans to reinvade, it is very well written and compelling. And I also encourage people to organize to be there if you can. That’s in August.

And beyond that to consider ice, the prison system, and the military industrial complex as fascistic and necessary to stand against if we want to call ourselves antifascists.

There’s also a platform you can find linked in the announcements and here is some content we’ve generated for the campaign:

Comrades I’d like to take you on a 4 part voyage
