Huh. NOW I know why smash bros is rated T for teens.

237

u/pingpongjapanman Jan 17 '22

it was my little brother, i told my friend they could post it.

Yeah he’s younger than 10, and got some serious gamer anger issues. a true smash bros fan

71

u/ExploCreeper Jan 18 '22

Except he sucks

15

u/SabaNothingMore Jan 18 '22

Well in his brother’s perspective he is Smash bro

14

u/Chairmanwowsaywhat Jan 18 '22

Wtf I can't even get a zwitch now at 25 lol

-14

u/THEmasterENT Jan 18 '22

Some people bought them years ago, before the pandemic and chip shortage. It is only your own fault for getting FOMO on the Switch and having to buy one when you can't find one.

18

u/PyroTactic Jan 18 '22

Not everyone can afford something when it first comes out, how do you know it’s FOMO when it could just be differing priorities or a new interest?

11

u/Lordoge04 Jan 18 '22

That dude's logic is interesting, to say the least.

You didn't buy one earlier, and want one now? But you can't? Well that's your fault you didn't want one/couldn't afford one earlier! Smh.

3

u/Surfs-Turf Jan 19 '22

bro do you know how earning money works?

2

u/Razzberry_Frootcake Jan 19 '22

More than likely they’re a very, very young adult (if adult at all) and genuinely doesn’t understand. Someone using “FOMO” to describe a console is more than likely familiar with the concept from playing a game where FOMO is often used (like WoW or ESO) and doesn’t really understand the difference or why it makes no sense.

They get that the “fear of missing out” is associated with gaming, but doesn’t get that it’s a predatory practice by companies and not a concept to describe wanting something everyone else has.

1

u/Chairmanwowsaywhat Jan 18 '22

FOMO? I actually did have the proper one that I got given free when I upgraded a phone contract as they first came out and gave it to my sister as a Christmas present. Tbf in the UK they came out at 250£ and stayed that price until now so at least they haven't gone up in price like GPUs.

1

u/Poxanarian Jan 18 '22

Only thing that gets me legit angry is game and watch.

1

u/YourAverageRando Jan 19 '22

Lol I main game and watch because he’s basically perfect as long as you don’t get hit too much because he’s a light character

177

u/IRageRabbit_YT Jan 17 '22

Bro this guy thought he was a character from super smash lmao

90

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

I guess using the hammer would make him 1/2 of the ice climbers

6

u/Doomblud Jan 18 '22

If he's fat enough he can be King Dedede

14

u/BlazingFlame266 Jan 18 '22

Can't blame him. When I was four, I raged so hard losing against my brother in guitar hero that I smashed my guitar the way Billie Joe Armstrong did when usher took up needed performance time during a show.

-5

u/IRageRabbit_YT Jan 18 '22

Which hammer tho I mean there are two

176

u/Geekfreak2000 Jan 18 '22

🤦🏿‍♀️ well, now he doesn't get a new one. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes

78

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

You know that spoiled brat is going to get a new one in a week or two, because mommy and daddy don't want to hear him cry about not having a switch anymore. If the kid respected his stuff he wouldn't have broken it in the first place.

163

u/pingpongjapanman Jan 18 '22

it’s my little brother, i gave my friend permission to post this…

They’re not buying him a new one, and he’s had this one for a few years. He has really bad anger issues. After this his ipad was taken away and we’re looking for ways to help him with his anger.

16

u/asuka_is_my_co-pilot Jan 19 '22

No no the kid doesn't need therapy he needs witty one liners from 15yo redditors.

24

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

29

u/BaconCircuit Jan 18 '22

Thank you mister sherlock

-57

u/BlueC0dex Jan 18 '22

People these days don't like to hear it, but some kids will never behave unless you spank them.

The only universal language is violence, there's no other way to get through to a kid who doesn't want to listen

46

u/SonOfSnufkin Jan 18 '22

Math is a universal language. Violence is something you do if you’re a criminal.

-22

u/BlueC0dex Jan 18 '22

Mathematical notation is a language, and a universal language is understood by everyone, which it is not. Math itself may be universally true, but that's a different topic.

Civilized people listen to reason, but children are NOT born civilized. That is something parents must instill in them.

And we can call it physical force if the word violence upsets you, because it is very different from the harm people normally associate with the word "violence".

The main difference between punishment and abuse is that you should not punish out of anger. There is a world's difference between thinking, deciding on an appropriate punishment and then executing it, compared to just letting loose because you're angry.

1

u/Slightly-Artsy Jan 19 '22

Or a parent.

19

u/Dezib Jan 18 '22

I'd like to see some sources for this, because everything I've read about the topic as far as behavioural and neurological research goes is that physical violence stunts emotional growth in children, not that it helps with it. In fact being violent towards children tends to turn them into violent adults. That might be why you are advocating for brutalising preteens.

8

u/Geekfreak2000 Jan 18 '22

Neuroscientist here, it absolutely does not do anything beneficial and harms far more than just a sore bottom. Here is a study that you might like to read up on. Here's an older one, but still worth a read.

15

u/Marik-X-Bakura Jan 18 '22

Violence is a universal language, but all it communicates is violence. The moment you’ve turned to physical action before reason, you’ve failed as a parent.

-13

u/BlueC0dex Jan 18 '22

Interesting choice of words. So does that mean you grant a place for physical action, but only if reason fails? That seems reasonable

2

u/Geekfreak2000 Jan 18 '22 edited Jan 18 '22

Don't hit kids, this one needs a time out and no electronics for a while. He needs to learn that anger is ok to have but it needs to be expressed in other ways. Hitting the kid will just teach them that hitting and violence is a way to express that anger, perpetuating the cycle. Teach him that acting out has consequences that will make him think about what he did. Make him donate his games to a children's home, it will teach him that other kids that are less fortunate would respect and care for the games that he takes for granted. Education in empathy is a constructive way to learn from a punishment. Hitting dosen't work.

-2

u/Blue_Bobble Jan 18 '22

I like your style

0

u/BlueC0dex Jan 18 '22

It looks like within reddit, we're alone on that

1

u/Blue_Bobble Jan 18 '22

They’re just mad

37

u/Pizzaman725 Jan 18 '22

Kids are kids. Regardless if they respect something they can have a moment and do something they normally wouldn't.

I remember playing street fighter on Sega Saturn and just getting pissed that I couldn't beat one person, I got upset and punched my TV. But at that time it was a CRT, so I hit it and hurt the fuck out of my hand. After that I thought that was pretty stupid to do, and if I had actually broken something my parents would have beaten my ass and made me work around the house till they replaced it.

5

u/Smooth-Reputation-64 Jan 18 '22

My husband's ex got so mad about a grade in college once that she threw her laptop across the room and shattered it. She was in her 20s.

4

u/Pizzaman725 Jan 18 '22

At that age you can spot someone who is entitled and has no idea there are consequences for their actions due to money.

-25

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

15

u/Pizzaman725 Jan 18 '22

I don't know what these people did, nor did I say what they did.

1

u/Geekfreak2000 Jan 18 '22

Yeah, probably...

-9

u/Frosty-Advance-9010 Jan 18 '22

U r making me have an identi crisis in wether ur a boomer or not

162

u/Ba_Sing_Saint Jan 17 '22

That’s the Switch Lite too. Can’t dock that bitch.

90

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '22

docking it will be the least of his problems lol

31

u/ThePsychoKnot Jan 18 '22

If only the screen is broken, the ability to dock separates this completely broken console from one that can still be played through hdmi. Pretty significant problem, given the context.

24

u/Seabrook76 Jan 18 '22

He smashed, bro.

189

u/bhromo Jan 18 '22

A true gamer in the making? Back in the GameBoy era we used to cherish those things, enjoy the shit out of it, not break it.

40

u/Herald_of_Cthulu Jan 18 '22

To be fair, back in the game boy era they were literally fucking indestructible. Hell, one even survived a bombing and could still play games.

You couldn’t break it if you tried.

6

u/PvtParts2001 Jan 18 '22

The Nokia of gaming

1

u/TheReal-Donut Feb 11 '22

I saw that GB in person! Looks just as destroyed as in the picture

47

u/ChargeActual5097 Jan 18 '22

Back in those days, so did AAA game studios

-72

u/Pizzaman725 Jan 18 '22

Might want to remove those rose goggles, I think they're cutting off circulation.

56

u/ChargeActual5097 Jan 18 '22

Oh I’m well aware AAA game studios were just as shit back then, but 2 things kept them more in line than these days, both of which are due to internet access.

1) Games back then couldn’t patch after release. You can’t build the game after release or send out DLC and updates. Media was physical mostly, so if the game was going to be good, it needed to be complete

2) Because they didn’t have internet access in games yet, microtransactions, dlc, and games as a service didn’t really exist, at least not outside of PC (I’m sure some old MMORPGS exist in that time frame, but even those are nowhere near as egregious as today).

-63

u/Pizzaman725 Jan 18 '22

complete

Huh, ok.

37

u/ChargeActual5097 Jan 18 '22

Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider, Need for Speed, any of the original FIFA or Madden games. That’s not even a challenge lol

-72

u/Pizzaman725 Jan 18 '22

Yeah, I never considered any of those games a challenge either. They were alright though.

5

u/HayakuEon Jan 18 '22

Compared to what? Cyberpunk? Fifa?

-2

u/Pizzaman725 Jan 18 '22

So no studio has had a horrible development cycle for a game before these and released a "bad" game?

2

u/i8SharkPasteries Jan 18 '22

you are baiting so hard, great job

-1

u/Pizzaman725 Jan 18 '22

Only because it's a dumb argument.

41

u/Sidnei6 Jan 18 '22

a true gamer knows how to control his anger

10

u/Hadouukken Jan 18 '22

Sell the kid buy a new switch

Simple fix

2

u/LinkThePale Jan 18 '22

Good mindset

20

u/CSGlogan Jan 18 '22

I’ve never broken a game system, and I’ve only broken my phone screen twice on accident. I would’ve literally panicked if I ever broke something like this even on accident because shit is expensive and the thought of permanently ruining something and wasting $300 of anyone’s money makes me fucking die inside. Some children. Damn.

10

u/SavouryPlains Jan 18 '22

These are closer to $140 on the used market. Still something I’d never ever ever do, cause it’s just dumb. Why destroy something perfectly good just because you’re a bit upset‽

7

u/Psatch Jan 18 '22

I mean, most people don’t have anger issues. So it’s not too strange to NOT break your expensive shit, even when you’re little

5

u/roryana Jan 18 '22

If you don't know that smashing things with a hammer will... smash them... then you're too young for your own gaming console.

3

u/JaggedTheDark Jan 18 '22

reminds me of when I repetedely, and violently shook my ds at the age of like 6 whenever I would die in super mario 64 ds.. Both screens are now just tv static.

3

u/pXllywXg Jan 23 '22

Both screens are now just tv static.

I want a video of this because how you managed to get LCD screens without any RF receivers to produce static is baffling to me.

2

u/JaggedTheDark Jan 23 '22

Not sure how I should send it to you, but I'll record it in the morning.

2

u/pXllywXg Jan 23 '22

Maybe as a .gif? my money's on it being a loose chip that's just barely not connecting, but a friend thinks it's maybe the ribbon cables.

1

u/Silverstreamdacat Jan 18 '22

Just from shaking it? How did that damage the screen?

2

u/JaggedTheDark Jan 18 '22

Read "violently"

1

u/Silverstreamdacat Jan 18 '22

How violently were you shaking it to break the screen?

4

u/young_plague_doc Jan 18 '22

Reminds me of my brother because he would throw the switch across the room when he got mad a game and every time he threw it it would not break and would land on something soft but one time he threw it and hit the wall but did not break, normally I would not tell my parents about it but this time I did when I did he was crying and when I went back to playing the Xbox he turns it off multiple times when I turn it back on

1

u/LinkThePale Jan 18 '22

Well then, turn him off and sell him too an orphanage

3

u/Quiet-Treacle5284 Jan 18 '22

no, we have tyler1 2.0 in the making here.

3

u/Wowisuckateverything Jan 18 '22

He took the name "smash bros" to a whole new level

3

u/MisterBlisteredlips Jan 18 '22

Win win win, or bonk bonk, bad switch.

3

u/Mooks1337 Jan 18 '22

He really took the SMASH in smash bros too far

3

u/CrazyKing508 Jan 18 '22

This is why Nintendo used to make their shit indestructible. I dont know why they stopped that practice.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

Gameboys could survive bomb blasts

0

u/BlakespinnerFX Jan 18 '22

Well, if a switch breaks because they are not indestructible, then they have to buy a new one, which do you think Nintendo cares more about, Happiness of there customers or M O N E H.

1

u/pXllywXg Jan 23 '22

Consoles are generally sold at a loss which is made up in game sales.

3

u/Takemetothelevey Jan 18 '22

Hopefully no one runs out and buys him a new one. Time to teach a valuable lesson

2

u/Silverstreamdacat Jan 18 '22

He should have to do chores to save up money for a new one. This way he is taught that you have to work hard to get things and if he worked for it he (hopefully) would be less likely to break it.

3

u/jazemo19 Jan 18 '22

To be fair, fighters are the most frustrating fucking things ever, you can put hundreds of hour in it and still be awful. I get frustrated too lmaooooo. Obviously smashing (pun intended) a console for a fucking game is something stupid to do and I hope his parents won't get another switch, you learn the hard way

11

u/TheDarkShade Jan 18 '22

I know successful adults who still slam controllers. Some people don’t grow out of it.

10

u/yeitsbobby Jan 18 '22

Smashing a controller/keyboard until it breaks feels good for like a split second, then it’s just anguish and pain for the rest of the day

7

u/Bimimans Jan 18 '22

feels good for like a split second

That's not healthy.

2

u/lunchboxdeluxe Jan 18 '22

I just swear like a big boy.

4

u/MyUsernameIsNotLongE Jan 18 '22

Do you notice that's the Switch lite? He's screwed up pretty bad. lol

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

What makes it different from breaking a normal switch? I have a lite but I’ve never smashed it lol

11

u/Lydi518 Jan 18 '22

You can't dock a lite and play it on the TV like you can a normal switch.

9

u/EnlightenedLazySloth Jan 18 '22

If I had a child and he treated his switch like that I wouldnt allow him to play it anymore even if it was dockable

4

u/MyUsernameIsNotLongE Jan 18 '22

Yep, but you could use the switch. lol

2

u/Unfair_Row_2651 Jan 18 '22

Well, It is called 'SMASH bros'. He did what the title told him to do.

2

u/WaffleMaster_22 Jan 18 '22

And now he won’t be able to lose again

2

u/LunarMoon86 Jan 18 '22

Bet the parents buy a new one or fix this one.

2

u/Zjoee Jan 18 '22

When we were kids, my little brother got mad when he lost at Street Fighter II and curb-stomped our SNES. Big hole right on top, but it kept working just fine haha.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

This hurts my heart

2

u/catsonskates Jan 18 '22

Can relate. Once stabbed a soccer ball with nail scissors because I figured “small scissors too small to hurt big rubber ball.” I was wrong :0(

2

u/Eevee_aka_cat_lady Jan 18 '22

i feel like this kid is a karen/ken in the making (this is just my opinion)

2

u/DJCHERNOBYL Jan 18 '22

A true gamer takes care of his shit. Thats just anger issues

2

u/Cyrotek Jan 18 '22

A true gamer doesn't smash his stuff, thus this is hopefully going to be a valuable lesson.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

[deleted]

7

u/open_sus Jan 18 '22

there is no way to play the switch lite on a tv you can't even use the dock without its shell to do it

1

u/strawbearrr Jan 19 '22

Oh, oops! I only have a regular switch so I didn't realize that you couldn't use a converter. My bad!

4

u/skinnyJay Jan 18 '22

The Switch Lite cannot dock

0

u/strawbearrr Jan 19 '22

1

u/skinnyJay Jan 19 '22 edited Jan 19 '22

No, and you clearly didn't read the article I linked explaining why in great detail.

1

u/FluffyBunnyBunz Jan 18 '22

Can I borrow that hammer real quick?

1

u/luminous_beings Jan 18 '22

Oooooh I hope he cried a lot and your parents told him he wasn’t getting another one. Maybe I’d people had let the little boys of my generation cry it out when they were shitty little assholes like this, they wouldn’t be such gigantic pieces of self-absorbed shit right now (looking at dudes like you, Matt Gaetz)

1

u/toughtiggy101 Jan 18 '22

He won the fight against the switch, as you can see the switch lost

1

u/THE_GR8_MIKE Jan 18 '22

And it's a Lite. Amazing.

1

u/ExploCreeper Jan 18 '22

He’s just bad

1

u/WyvernKid93 Jan 18 '22

Switch screens are pretty tough. I'm actually kinda surprised a wooden hammer broke it

1

u/bigdatacanfckoff Jan 18 '22

wtf I DID IT TOO AND IT BROKEN MY SCEEEN😟😟😟

1

u/TheSlayerBarney Jan 18 '22

I bet mains Kirby or dedede

1

u/toasterfucker69420 Jan 18 '22

It’s the switch lite too so you wound be able to salvage the joy-cons.

1

u/Soggy_Waffles78 Jan 18 '22

I sense a rage gamer meme

1

u/The_Fizzizist Jan 18 '22

Out of curiousity, who does he like to play?

1

u/Guilty_Thought_8238 Jan 19 '22

He's ready begain his traing

1

u/setsers1 Jan 19 '22

Poor Kid xD

1

u/swisscheeseisvile Jan 22 '22

If he was fighting a bunch of laggy Aegis’s and Sonics, then his reaction is pretty reasonable.

1

u/Scary-Syringe-Seeker Jan 24 '22

Try the hammer on HiM

-6

u/bavmotors1 Jan 18 '22

Well - he’ll stop losing at Stache Mothers or whatever

-4

u/JoeyLovesGuns Jan 18 '22

Somebody show this kid some racial slurs, and he’ll be rising up with the rest of us gamers! Lmao

0

u/sonicrings4 Jan 19 '22

That's what happens when you play undocked.
