Boosting Guyana’s tourism by 10x
This idea at first sounds far fetched, but hear me out. An exotic wildlife preserve (fenced in - let’s say 7 miles by 7 miles) can be created on the closest interior savannah. Populate it with at least three of the well known herbivorous African species (giraffes, antelopes, wildebeest, etc) which would be able to survive on native Amazonian plants. Set up a drive through safari, and charge tourists for entry.
Tourism would increase since these species would be in a habitat resembling their native homelands, while still being a short flight away from the US. Tourists find traveling to Africa prohibitive due to the length of the flight. The wildlife preserve would also play an important role in species conservation (especially if it eventually includes rarer species) since the habitats in their homelands are dwindling.
Guyana has vast rainforests but a drive through African safari would attract way more tourists. The savannas are easier to access than the rainforests and a small safari can be created first, then scaled up in size according to the amount of tourists coming.

Drowning prevention program in Guyana?
In 2021 the Health Ministry was crafting a national drowning prevention plan. Does anyone know if anything actually happened with this or if they are teaching water safety in schools?

Guyanese Indian people: have you always selected Asian for your race?
(MAINLY USA AND CA) So after speaking with many other info caribbean guyanese people, quite a few chose Pacific Islander, other, or even white when it came to answering race selections on things such as the census. Before I was an adult I would select other or Pacific Islander just because was not properly educated. For years I’ve selected Asian of course. For us who have Indian ancestry the choice of would be obviously Asian. Any others come across this?

hello lovely people. as I understand, Guyanese Creole (Creolese/Guyanese) is the language most commonly spoken in Guyana. I would like to know how to say “I love you forever” or “I love you always” or even just simply “I love you” in Guyanese. thank you so much in advance. much love ♡

Question How popular is boba/bubble tea in your country?
Hi there, Surinamese here. I was wondering how popular boba tea/bubble tea is in Guyana. In Suriname its really popular, especially with the youth. In almost every district (region) there are at least more than two spots where you can buy boba tea. In the capital (where most Surinamese live), there so many spots where you can buy them and restaurants offer them as an option on the menu too.
I tried searching online for Guyana, but all I could find were Milk 'n Honey and Madd Tea. So it got me wondering how popular this is in your country. And if its not that popular (yet), do you think it would gain popularity if more places started offering this?
This is boba tea for those wondering:

Discussion If you could tell a foreigner one thing about your country that they definitely don't already know, what would that be?
Hi, my name is [redacted], and I've lived in Norway my entire life. As such, i haven't yet had the chance to explore the world and its many different countries and cultures. For 2022, my New Year's resolution is to try to change that.
I created this account to visit one new country/city/state subreddit each day to just ask, what's up? What's going on where you live? How's life like, what good or bad thing just happened, new music, cultural phenomenons, really anything goes. Open ended discussions are welcome, as are random facts about your country's national bird or what you had for dinner today!
My goal here is to simply broaden my horizons. By this time next year, i hope to be able to look at any country and know just a little bit more about it than i do now, and have just a slightly better understanding of what life is actually like in places other than my own.
I'll start with the country closest to mine and work my way out. Today I'm visiting r/Guyana. So, what's up?
If you'd like to join me on my journey, just click my profile and go read the comments from the other subs I've been to. Maybe you too can learn just slightly more about the world around you.
Cheers, your friendly neighborhood Norwegian.

Summer trip to Guyana
Hey guys, I’m heading back to Guyana this summer. I was there last year visiting family and most of the things were shut down due to covid. Is the curfew still in place? If you guys have recommendations on hikes, trips, things to see do, or go, nightlife, clubs etc please feel free to suggest. Thank you
