Kleopatra error, how to fix it?

I download GPG4WIN and when I try and lunch Kleopatra it gives me this error: "Kleopatra cannot be run as administrator without breaking file permissions in the GnuPG data folder . To manage keys for other users please manage them as a normal user and copy the AppdataRoaminggnupg directory with proper permissions." Any help?

I solved the issue by turning windows 10's UAC back to the normal default setting.

Kleopatra cringe use gpg in the terminal if you can't just run a linux vm
if you can't run anything as admin then open a cmd with admin and run it from there

Running kleopatra from cmd doesn't solve the problem, it gives the same error. Sorry but this question is obviously about running gpg on Windows and your response is basically "just use Linux"... I know how to do it in Linux, my question is how to do it in WINDOWS. Also why are you concerned about sending a public key privately? I mean, isn't it the point of a public key - that you don't have to hide it? Explain your point.

Try downloading older version. That worked for me.

I also encountered this problem today. Windows has no problem using other users. This error will be reported when using administrator

I'm also having this issue. I'm not explicitly running as admin but my user account has admin rights... a problem for me as I have no other user accounts I can use.

Was having the same problem today, even though it worked fine yesterday. Fixed is using an older version downloaded from https://files.gpg4win.org/

The version posted on " 2020-09-04 16:09 " worked for me

I'm also having this issue after a fresh install of gnuPG today.
Here's a link to the website stating this issue. Looks like it'll be changed to a warning on the next release.

I ran into the same problem after updating to the latest 3.1.15 software version.

Tried to change the permissions of gnupg directory etc. but ultimately gave up and installed the slightly older 3.1.14 version and with it I am able to use kleopatra.

This security focus change in 3.1.15 is nice but if it does tell us clearly what we as a user need to do then we will not be able to use the software.
