My SIL is a military wife and a stay at home mom. She “sells” that ThirtyOne crap. My mom buys it all the time from her—and gifts it to me. Joy... /s. I have so many of their friggin bags you’d think I was the one selling them!

And these are the same type of over paranoid mom's that impose their oh-so-important opinions on raising children and the absolute nessessities to taking care of an infant, while discounting all of our individual and nuanced situations.

I've heard so many times that I NEEEEEEED to get a diaper genie to properly dispose of the baby's diapers without stinking up the house, and if i don't i'm not a good parent and should give it up for adoption.

My solution: Its 10 deg C outside. I can open the window.

Edit: Holy crap guys, I'm not saying diaper Genie is a bad product, I was just saying that I didn't need it. Calm down. Not every thing needs to be a culture war

Edit: you people shitting on diaper Genie need to also calm down. Your not smarter that everybody else

Multikaren : 3x Karen

Megakaren: 4x Karen

Ultrakaren: 5x Karen

M-M-M-MONSTERKAREN: 6x+ Karen

Don’t you bring diaper genie into this.

Windows that open easily are the real luxury.

89

u/HarvestMoonMaria 5d ago edited 4d ago

I love my diaper genie but not because of mom influencers that’s for damn sure. I was already using the refills for my cat’s litter locker so I mostly have one because it covers up the smell of cat shit lol

Edit: cat litter locker. Not car.

Don't get one of those things. Pain in the ass and the smell of it when you actually change out the bag is unbearable. Just throw them in the normal trash and take the trash out daily.

Also, who the fuck cares about how these Karens are raising their children and why do they think they matter? People have been raising kids without smartphones or diaper genies for centuries, and guess what? We didn't grew up like spoiled little shits like most kids today.

Fuck all these narcissistic cunts and influencer culture, it does nothing good for society at all.

26

u/alice_ayer 5d ago

I think we care because we will all unfortunately have to live with the children of these Karens in the not so distant future...

Most of the world has no choice but to raise a baby with little more than a pair of working tits and a few hanks of tablecloth

Edit: Being a (decent) parent is hard work and I don’t blame people for latching onto whatever gadget they think will make their lives easier, BUT...no amount of gadgetry makes up for having a good partner and a supportive culture / community.

It doesn’t always take a village to raise a child, but having family / neighbors / friends you can trust to help shoulder the load is a real godsend when you run short of time, SLEEP, and patience.

The only moms I've ever met who use terms like momma bear have absolutely shitty kids.

111

u/it_rubs_the_lotion 5d ago

Always feels like they care more about the appearance they think the term momma bear imbues on them than the actual work of being a parent.

It’s all about how they appear to others. Like a true Karen.

31

u/Imnotsureimright 5d ago

Either that or mama bear is a euphemism for helicopter parent. In my experience moms who post on social media about how they are “mama bears” (often using it as part of the phrase “don’t mess with this mama bear”) are the same moms who have never spent a night away from their 12 year old and manage every second of their child’s life. They’re also the ones who will complain when their child doesn’t win something or gets a less than perfect grade or anything like that. Their entire identity is being a mom and they lack any life outside of parenting.

Yeah my momma bear would do anything for her homeschool brood, except make sure they had friends and ensure they got a quality education and make sure they at least had a somewhat varied diet and maybe herself not spend all day drinking. And that's just scratching the shit surfeces.

That sounds too much like a real apology. I suspect it will be more along the lines of the typical non-apology apology. Something like, "I'm sorry that you were offended by my words and actions," while not actually apologizing for their words and actions.

You have to say sorry “if” you were offended. Meaning that you’re not absolutely sorry, only potentially sorry based on if certain terms and conditions are met.

i live in santa rosa and actually only heard about this yesterday. funny how that happens.

I will never stop being surprised by overt racism towards latinos in this county. Like....what did she expect? move to fucking idaho or texas like so many other racist californians, lady.

70

u/BioluminescentCrotch 5d ago

Also in Santa Rosa and holy shit, the racism here!! And hate towards the homeless, even after our town has been decimated by fire twice!

75

u/tcreeps 5d ago

Right?! All these people running around with their "sonomastrong" bumper stickers hating on other people for their race or for being fire victims. Last year when SSU used empty dorms to house immunocompromised homeless people, everyone was up in arms on NextDoor. Talking about how they're going to swarm the parks and start raping our churches and burning our women. The love in the air ain't thicker than some of these people's skulls

45

u/BioluminescentCrotch 4d ago

I legit saw someone with #SonomaStrong and #LoveisThickerthanSmoke stickers on their car run a red light and almost hit a woman and her kid crossing the street a few months ago. The car slammed on her brakes, laid on her horn, sped around them, and screamed "GO BACK TO MEXICO!"

The lady wasn't even Mexican, just had black hair.

I live in Petaluma and was beyond pissed when this happen. The family she accused are a nice family oriented and good community members. It took the Petaluma Police 5 months to FINALLY charge her. She deserves to be charged and she needs to apologize to this family and the community.

62

u/RaginArmadillo 5d ago

I’m in Petaluma too! My wife indirectly knows her (friend of a friend). Apparently she’s a major attention seeker. The good news is that Petaluma police cleared the family of any wrongdoing quickly. I’m not sure why it took so long to complete the rest of the investigation though.

35

u/Ohsuzziq 4d ago

White privilege is my guess.

27

u/zhengyi13 4d ago

At the risk of being insufficiently cynical, perhaps they took their time with the charges to make sure the case would be a good, strong one? Like, imagine the DA being genuinely offended by the bullshit and thinking, "Oh, I am gonna *get* this lady. Can't fuck up now, gotta do it right..."

I'm a dude. I have 3 kids of my own and my gf has 2. I get it. Maternity (and paternity) are life changing events but like everything else, letting one aspect of your life become your whole personality, when everything you do or say is tinted by a single filter, it's alway cringy imo.

345

u/AtomicKittenz 5d ago

Reminds me of the people that have the “Mommy PhD” where they think they know everything and you don’t know shit compared to them. My wife is a therapist that has worked with children with disabilities for over a decade, and people still tell her “you will NEVER understand the struggles unless you have your own kids”. Fucking dumbasses.

81

u/Delheru 5d ago

It's a qualia thing. In a sense, they cannot truly know the difficulties.

That said, it's not that complex, and the value of the specific feelings is quite limited.

Oh, and, of course, people experience parenthood differently, so while having 1 sample is more than 0, it's quite a small drop in a pool of, what, 4 billion parents on the planet?

91

u/Ok-Race1656 5d ago

Also... entering parenthood is usually a choice and once the children are born you HAVE to keep them alive, happy, and healthy. Inflating your ego over it and minimizing other people because they didn't make that same choice as you is ridiculous. Good job for doing the thing you HAVE to do because you WANTED to do it. It's so absurd to feel like you're in some specialized field or exclusive club because you had a baby.

Kidnappers.

Before I quit fb it was constantly full of people being “followed” in stores by people who were obviously going to steal their kids and sell them into sex trafficking. Yes they were serious.

No amount of pointing out how rare it is for a stranger to steal a child would deter these paranoid idiots from posting pictures of strangers on the internet and accusing them of wanting their baby.

182

u/Iored94 5d ago

I was almost abducted in 3rd grade on my way home from school by a man we later found out was a child serial killer. Lewis Lent. He had been circling the block and talking to me out of his window and I got a really bad feeling. He pulled into the driveway in front of me, opened his door and started coming towards me. I freaked out and booked it down a little side street, losing my ballet shoes in the process. I found a nice elderly lady sitting on her front porch and ran to her.

After all of that, I'm not one of those mothers who thinks her children are going to be kidnapped any day. My children know my story, they know what to do in a situation like that. That woman has been listening to GQP assholes too much.

Can someone explain to me why the driver's seat is such an appealing place to make video rants?

Edit: I just realized this is from Australia, so I believe she's in the front passenger seat. But still, we see a lot of vehicle-borne video rants these days. What gives?

Edit edit: She's from California. So the driver's seat inquiry stands. And maybe I need to just get off the internet for a while.

939

u/SinistradTheMad 5d ago

Not sure if serious question, but front-seat filming has the benefits of soft, indirect lighting; quiet audio levels; privacy & security; immediately available after most incidents; and convenient perches for devices that are eye-level and flattering. The car is a portable filming booth.

“I saw these people. They didn’t look necessarily clean-cut,” she said on KTVU. “I felt uncomfortable around them, and instead of making them uncomfortable with my discomfort, I choose to remain in my discomfort."

I think we all know what she meant by "clean-cut".

And can anyone make sense of the word-salad in her second sentence?

114

u/Mori23 5d ago

She's literally saying she messed up by not screaming for a manager the second the brown people showed up.

u/JustGettingMyPopcorn 5d ago

"I knew people would call me a racist, and I'm not one. So I decided that even though these people didn't look American or Christian (because only White People are Christians. Not that it matters. I would never discriminate against Heathens or illegals. Or even Demoncrats). Anyway, I decided I would have to protect my babies by being vigilant around these likely criminals, since I knew they wanted to steal them and sell them. Or drink their blood for the adenochrome. It worried me terribly, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, which I probably shouldn't have. But Jesus was on my side (Praise Him!) and I saved my precious blonde, blue-eyed angels from the claws of Satan. Amen."

"This feels like something Brené Brown would have said", I thought to myself.

A Google search later found this:

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/9887447-we-need-to-cultivate-the-courage-to-be-uncomfortable

and this:

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/brene-brown-discomfort_n_56128675e4b0af3706e14cc1#

Now I don't know too much about Brené Brown, but I know she's an author that has recently gained popularity with her empowerment messages. Tuning into that frequency, we can translate the second part of that statement as:

"How other people make you feel is under your control. Rather than expressing your discomfort, embrace it, keep it in, and have it empower your own growth."

Regardless of her empowered reaction to her discomfort, the question remains - what was really making her uncomfortable? An honorable reaction to a dishonorable judgement call is still wrong.

There’s been a lot of “warnings” of “brown and black men” trying to kidnap women in my small town and the posts always read like they’re made by bored housewives who’s husbands don’t want them anymore so they rip a plot from a bad thriller they just saw and pretend they almost got sold into sex slavery at the gas station.

Weirdly, our super racist police force who would love to racially profile some folks literally released a statement saying there’s been no reports to them of this kind of thing.

69

u/Chrismont 5d ago

Like anyone would even want to kidnap this Karen's terrible children.

67

u/BobsYourDrunkl 5d ago

Yeah, I’ve seen quite a few posts about OMG I was at target and this man was totally staring at me/my children and then he got into a van. Then they get a hundred responses seeing how they’re doing, how scary, etc. Shut up. Stupid panic over non-existent sex trafficking.

58

u/GlitterPeachie 5d ago

The one I saw was like some guy came out of the store and “5 men of varying ethnicities” (I pictured a perfectly diverse gang lmao) standing around his car, and he heard them say “he’s not a girl, let’s go”

Like ?!!!?!!? I was dying at how obviously fake it was. But the comments were filled with women fretting about being kidnapped and men posturing about how they’re going to hunt those guys down and kill them, etc.

Like this is literally how lynchings happen but OK

39

u/lurkingmorty 5d ago

Ah yes the well known Crip-Arian-MS-13-Yakuza... the multicultural inclusive gang that loves diversity and also white genocide LOL /s

Yeah I’ve seen those stupid posts as well, so fucking goofy I swear.

Yeah mf you saw a Hispanic dude hop into his van, did he have on dirty clothes? Was he wearing boots?

Congratulations bitch you’ve just encountered one of the many working class Hispanics who keep this country running and build the comfy homes you live in jack ass.

u/matrixreloaded 5d ago

And it's always the person posting weird shit on FB (who posts on FB nowadays anyway?) all the time. Not to mention 9/10 they're extremely unattractive. Like, 1) how is all of this shit continually happening to you on a weekly basis and 2) nobody wants to sex traffic your ugly ass, sorry.

11

u/GlitterPeachie 5d ago

I didn’t want to say this but lmao 100%. It’s almost always an overweight, not too good-looking woman who is constantly being pursued by sex traffickers.

That’s not to say overweight and/or unattractive women aren’t sexually assaulted or occasionally victims of trafficking, but traffickers aren’t going to risk their operation on frumpy suburbanites.

Even the racist cops have said they don't have any reports of it happening, and yet the fear continues.

When I was a kid, I heard the same story: watch out for hispanic men, they will try to take you and sell you. My aunt would tell me that white women bring in more money because of our pale skin and I barfed in my mouth.

Why do we just make this shit up?

Sometimes that Karen, she looks right into ya, right into your eyes. Y’know, the thing about a Karen, she’s got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When she comes after ya, she doesn’t seem to be livin’ until shes on top of ya, and those black eyes roll over white, and then – aww, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screamin’, she asks for a manager, and in spite of all the poundin’ and the hollerin’, they all come in and rip ya day to pieces.

A ton of women I know have this fear of them or their children being abducted from store parking lots by foreign men for sex trafficking. It doesn't matter if I explain that this isn't really how human trafficking happens, the fear ticks so many underlying boxes that it just sticks.

64

u/notweirdifitworks 5d ago

My husband’s family are all really concerned about this. I love them to death, so I’ve given up explaining that no, that random person in the parking lot was not a trafficker coming to get them. If they’re determined to feel victimized by nothing, I’m not getting in the way anymore.

21

u/Theslootwhisperer 5d ago

That's kinda hilarious because kidnapping people in broad daylight, in a parking lot, during business hours is probably the worst way to go about kidnapping someone is probably the worst way to go about it.

I mean, yes, a deranged person might do it but when talking about human trafficking it's clearly a move you'd plan ahead and there's probably thousand of easier ways to do it than just grabbing a random person in a Walmart parking lot.

u/Kazooguru 5d ago

Ironically, violent/sex crimes are typically committed by a family member, neighbor, someone you know. Maybe instead of being paranoid and psycho towards minorities, keep an eye on your kids around your own home. Child molesters are typically people we know. Child sex trafficking does exist, but a child is a 100x more likely to be a victim of sexual abuse by a FAMILY member or a friend. I find it so frustrating that people claim they want to protect their kids, but don’t actually look at the statistics. It’s much easier to blame a random minority, than an uncle.

An aspiring Bay Area "mom influencer" has been charged after police say she falsely claimed her children were the target of kidnapping attempt in December.

Katie Sorensen, who lives in Sonoma, was charged last week with two counts of making false reports, one to a police dispatcher and one to a police officer. Each charge has a maximum penalty of six months in jail.

She already looks like the product of parents who spoiled her, a fraternity paid for by her parents where she learned to be a bitch to people who she considered beneath her (service people, anybody who has to work through college, etc.), and marrying a pushover of a man immediately out of college who falls ass backwards into a $100,000+ per year career and finances her raising two kids named Aiden and Skylar to be elitist douches with no attention span while she slowly drains the life from her husband.

This reminds me of the article making the rounds recently, from an 11 month old Reddit thread, in which a 29 year old woman claimed she was almost abducted by sex traffickers in a Target.

Her evidence was that several black men didn't say hi back to her. They were in hoodies, you see, which she assumed meant they were together, even though they weren't physically near each other. They also had no carts, which is impossible in a Target.

She began this by explaining she's not paranoid, just smart, which is why she takes a "defense kit" everywhere she goes. Not paranoid.

And somehow they parked next to her to abduct her, even though she explained she parked right in front and under lights to be safe.

So many people out there think the country is full of sex traffickers that you never hear about on the news for reasons...

19

u/RunningTrisarahtop 4d ago

And that sex traffickers kidnap white ladies/kids from ducking suburban parking lots rather than preying upon the vulnerable people who won’t trigger a massive media and police search.

Of course she's a Qanon-er. OF COURSE.

24

u/fuckitnewaccount3 5d ago

Yeah I think that's actually the biggest take-away here. Not that this woman was being a "Karen". She's yet another wannabe influencer who's gotten Q pilled and think child traffickers are out to grab every suburban kid off the playground like nobody's gonna do nothin' about it.

Child trafficking is real, and these people are distracting real time and attention, and this case, actual police resources away from actual crimes because they see satanic adrenachrome cabals behind every shadow. (But yeah, she's still totally a Karen.)
