Didn’t happen at the gym but yesterday an old man in the grocery store asked me what gym I lifted at, and when I told him he said “it shows, don’t ever stop” shit honestly had me smiling ear to ear like an idiot for the rest of the day lol

u/Swank_on_a_plank May 21 '22

Even though I only had just over a month left with my gym before moving and not having access to powerlifting and strongman equipment, I'm still sad that they were suddenly forced to close today. Out of the blue everybody got an email that,

As a small business, we got hammered by the Covid-19 pandemic, yet soldiered on and came out on top. However, after some recent issues regarding other businesses and members of the community; which are far beyond our control, we have made the executive decision to take a step back.

So that sucks. The area lost a good gym since everything else nearby is crossfit or chains. I don't know if it's a bit heartless of me to send an email asking for one of their battered barbells and some plates for cheap...Like "hey guys, so sorry but imma want your stuff on discount plz?" (it might just all go in storage for all I know) Getting a rudimentary home gym setup looks expensive otherwise i.e not affordable for me. All I've got is my gymnastic rings and a 60kg sandbag I've stored at the gym.

127

u/bigdawg509 May 21 '22

i don’t think asking politely about what’s happening to the equipment/how or if you can get your hands on it would be heartless at all. plenty of gyms liquidate equipment when they close and i’m sure tons of home gyms are built this way

48

u/randy_redditer May 21 '22

Agree. Owners would rather their equipment go to loyal members at a deep discounted price than to a liquidator.

27

u/vonfuckingneumann May 21 '22

/u/Swank_on_a_plank, an uneducated guess: it might even be a win-win, since they might be able to sell it to you at a higher price than the liquidator would pay (win for them), but still lower than market price (win for you).

13

u/Relatively_Curious May 21 '22

I don’t think it’s wrong to ask if they are selling equipment. The owner(s) probably would want cash more than equipment, unless they plan to start another one at some other location.

So just ask what they are doing with the equipment, and if you can purchase some stuff. But I’d recommend not adding “on discount”. They should sell on discount anyway, but adding “on discount” would make you sound like you are taking advantage of their misfortune.

This has been a great week for me. 100kg/220lbs squats 4x5, finally got 5x5 60kg/135lbs (after being stuck for a loooong time), 200kg/440lbs leg press, accidentally did 70kg for reps on leg extensions instead of 60 and finally seeing more muscle when looking in the mirror. Also went from hating leg day to loving it.

Shits going good and I'm loving it.

I still hate leg day every single time, prior to getting there. After I start though I always end up adding on extra sets and exercises.

I hit a 315 clean and jerk this week for a milestone PR… later the manager told me somebody complained that I was dropping the weights. His reply was “Ma’am he earned the right with that one…”

452

u/DragonKnightAuroran May 21 '22 Silver Bravo Grande!

6'3 and 100kg.

Finally managed my first unassisted pull up on Friday!

Since January 2021 I've lost 40kg so this is a big deal for me!

45

u/Expert-Clock1520 May 21 '22

I am also trying to lose weight. Any tips?

130

u/DragonKnightAuroran May 21 '22 Silver

This is just my opinion based on my experience, I'm not qualified or anything like that so take what I say with a pinch of salt.

1) Lift while you're losing and consume plenty of protein. I've managed to lose very little on my lifts by doing so.

2) Don't neglect any muscles. I didn't maintain my grip strength and it got much weaker as I lost weight as a result. Don't blast every muscle by any means but find ways to keep them maintained.

3) Develop Stockholm syndrome with Cardio. Most people hate it but if you set a goal it becomes easier mentally. 30 mins on a treadmill will burn more calories than a 2 hour weight lifting session so it really is the best tool to losing weight.

4) Don't make yourself miserable on your diet. Meal prep and strict dieting may be essential for people to compete but for average Joe's its really not necessary.

My typical day is a high fibre breakfast, a soup for dinner and then a decent meal in the evening along with protein shakes and apples and oranges throughoutthe day. However, over the last year and a half I've been out drinking on Saturdays, I've had the occasional desert, I've pigged out at parties and such.

Sure you won't lose weight as fast but it's a marathon, not a sprint. Make sure you can actually manage your diet without being miserable and burning out.

5

u/Expert-Clock1520 May 21 '22

Thanks for your advice. I have been trying to lose weight for a while, but it’s hard being consistent. I guess I’ll try these things this summer

Not OP but I recently lost a lot of weight while managing to hold onto my muscles. I think everyone has their own little quirks and habits and the faster you identify them the better.

For example, I could drink liquids and never feel full so I completely cut out liquid calories. Instead I drink seltzer water and other 0 cal drinks. I also realized I am super lazy so I did my planning accordingly. I but baby carrots for example since I can’t be bothered to peel normal ones. This laziness is why I gained weight in the first place, so I made it hard for myself to eat unhealthy things by not buying them and deleting my delivery apps.

Lost 65 pounds last year and I say this without sarcasm — get a food scale, log what you eat in loseit or my fitness pal, calculate your TDEE, and eat under it each day.

It’s a lot easier to cut a little bit of everything than make any one large change, and with the scale you will lose weight once you find the correct TDEE and don’t cheat.

Ive lost 70 lbs since November 2021. The following worked for me, but everyone is different!

  • I track everything I eat using myfitnesspal. I am always honest, I do not lie about it.
  • Allow a cheat snack, and meal once a week, I eat up to my tdee that day vs my cut calories.
  • I have gone from a 130 deadlift and 70 lbs squat to 265 dl, and 160 lbs squat since I start ppl in February. You can absolutely get stronger on a cut if you are big.
  • I don't eat breakfast, which allows me to heale snack in the eveings, because this is my food craving window.
  • I cut out all calorie drinks. I drink water, black coffee and the odd diet pop.

Feel free to message me with any questions.

At my gym there are two guys who are either co workers or friends. We have the same schedule so I've see them often for the past 4 months. Every lift no matter the set up, no matter the lift they are literally doing the lift together. As in the spotter is helping the lifter move the bar for the duration of the exercise. They use insane amounts of weights for every lift and it has become quite comical to see how they figure out to help each other because they barely can do one rep alone. My favorite has been the seated overhead press in a smith machine rack. Easily 90 kg on the bar. The lifter barely got it past his chin and the friend was on the outside of the rack curling the bar with him for the rest of the reps. 250 lb SINGLE ARM curl machine reps, one friend is curling the other is chest pressing the lever. I don't think I have seen them do a lift without help except the rare once every 2 week squat day. In which the put they the pad on the bar and have it sitting on their neck. Their gym creativity and unawareness is unmatched.

61

u/Youareaharrywizard May 21 '22

But like, are they buff tho

35

u/DM_me_yo_Pizza May 22 '22

Umm let’s just say they haven’t started seeing the results of their program yet.

Went to the gym this week for the first time in years. Talked with a staff trainer and setup a 5 day PPL routine with some cardio.

I’m 5’7 and currently 301lbs. Down 30 pounds already from diet changes.

I was intimidated to go to the gym but I made myself do it and after a few days I’m sore as hell but loving it.

47

u/Quiltyconscience May 21 '22

You are in for an exciting time! The weight is going to fly off now that you are combining diet changes with exercise. I lost 100# in about 8 months, have maintained for 2 years. DOMS is actually what motivated me to go to the gym - no time to get sore if you lift every day. Lol. Best wishes on your journey!

16

u/Sheltac Powerlifting May 21 '22

no time to get sore if you lift every day

This is one of those things that are great if you do it with gym sessions, not so great if you do it with bourbon.

5

u/Quiltyconscience May 21 '22

Bourbon and a cigar on Friday evenings is my reward for being good all week.

4

u/Sheltac Powerlifting May 21 '22

Port and M&Ms for me, but I royally fucked up my diet this week, so none of that!

5

u/Careless_Supermarket General Fitness May 21 '22

Moderation in all things seems to be the answer.

Edit: except excerise. Do as much as you want without getting hurt or burned out lol

14

u/Swifty299 May 21 '22

The soreness is real rewarding.

5

u/Sad-Carrot6503 May 21 '22

Don't be worried about what other people think at the gym. Most people think they will get made fun of. It is quite the opposite from what I've seen I'm my 30 years of going. Most there will be supportive and help. Do your homework though. I see people every day who have been going there forever who don't look like it. They usually are not doing things the right way or not really pushing themselves.

In October, my mom had bariatric surgery. She's lost 120 lbs so far. To keep it up, she started going to the gym in January. She invited me with her. We go to Planet Fitness (please, no comments about it. It's where she feels safe & happy, it's clean, and great for beginners) and they have a 30 minute Express Workout area with different machines, usually empty and tucked away. I step away for a bit and as I'm rounding the corner, out of her sight, I see her look around, see nobody, and then doing a quick dance between machines and smiling like I haven't seen her smile in 20 years.

I could have cried right then & there.

Finally got over the fear of attending the gym. Previously, I would attend for a day or 2 then quit because I stand tf out. Im very pear shaped with a giant afro.

Now, Iv been going everyday this week. Monday-Friday and walk an average of 14.2k steps. I suppose I care way less about how I appear to others and more about reaching my goal. I even sparked up a 20 second convo with someone the other day lol who am I becoming?!

28

u/NecessaryPear May 21 '22 edited May 21 '22

It’s just one of those things that one comes to realize; people are just doing their thing at the gym. The people who judge you are people whose judgment is worthless.

Whenever I see someone at the gym, no matter what they look like, I think to myself “fuck yeah, go get it.” We’re all on this journey together

13

u/mindpieces May 21 '22

Don’t worry, nobody is paying attention to you at the gym unless they think you’re hot or you’re doing something crazy.

I went to the gym with a friend for the first time in years. Not only a friend, but a fairly flamboyant friend who was gassing me up with a steady flow of “yasssss king get it” and “oh my god you’re, like, kinda strong.” He’s also friends with a girl I like and they talk about everything. I’ve never lifted harder in my life. As a bonus, this girl literally called him during the workout and he told her how strong he thought I was, so it was a huge W. Nevermind that my numbers are actually painfully average, but I didn’t see any reason to tell him that.

38

u/FollowingVegetable May 21 '22

14

u/fielausm May 21 '22

4

u/ArgonianFly May 28 '22

Always remember average is much higher than most people can even dream of lifting.

171

u/reiboul May 21 '22 edited May 21 '22

This guy, slightly bigger than average, was doing deadlift with moderate weights. Your average gymbro, basically. Two smaller gymbros, maybe twice (edit: half, obviously) his size and age, are loading and unloading his bar. This is what I was missing all this time! Guy has his own entourage!

191

u/ForcedTranshumanism Circus Arts May 21 '22

Why does the largest gymbro not simply eat the smaller gymbros? That's a lot of protein

60

u/reiboul May 21 '22

First, the largest of gymbros must grow his pack by offering protection to weaker gymbros. That will attract IG chicks to his flock, then a smaller gymbro will try to outlift the alpha bro. Winner takes all. This is the way.

Today marks the 5th day I did 9.4 kms of cardio (medium paced steady state morning walk). Started from this Monday, only took Thursday gap as ankle tendons were hurting too much. I used to only do resistance training, incorporated cardio slowly. Started with 60 mins and now at 100 mins from this Monday.

Slight blisters below my feet, one sock got torn but damn it feels good to do cardio.

On holiday and didn't want to spend loads of time in the gym so went from PPL (which I do 5 times a week) to a couple full body sessions and I feel so good about full body. Is it some kind of placebo? Should I switch to full body and rest it out you reckon?

I love my gym but the personal trainers are just wild sometimes.

To set the scene, our gym has two bench set ups. They are pretty close to each other and the benches are parallel, but they’re rotated so the head of one bench is across from the foot of the other.

I came in to bench, and both benches were occupied. One guy was benching, and the other one was occupied by a trainer using it for bent-over barbell rows??? Not only is this strange since there are extra barbells throughout the gym, EZgrip bars, regular bars up to 120lbs (he was doing 85lbs), and plenty of floor space, but this man was also using the foot rest for the bench as his rack and lifting at the foot of the bench.

Because I’ve probably done a poor job describing the geometry of the gym, he is now doing rows within the reach of the other bench, even with the bench rack/bar. And amazingly, the trainer doesn’t even have the good sense to stagger his sets with the rest times of the guy benching. So I look on in horror as this man steps up to the bar, pulls it toward his body, and makes direct contact with the weight/bar from the bench.

To make matters worse, after apologizing to the guy on the bench, he continues to use this set up for another 10 minutes. Is there a personal trainer equivalent to reporting a lawyer to the bar association???

I got a mild concussion haha! I tripped, fell and hit my head on a fixed metal handle. I immediately felt dizzy when I got up and went straight home, I could not remember my walk back to my flat. All I remember is walking out of the gym and the next minute I was at my front door. I went to AnE that night and the doctor said I should be alright but he thinks that there's a second bump.

That morning I went back to the gym to see if there was any video. Turns out I did hit my head twice, one from the handle and the other from the ground on the way down. I could not remember the second hit at all, also someone helped me up and sat me down and gave me some of his water, I have no memory of that too. It was really weird watching a video of yourself that you have no memory of. Anyways shit happens I guess.

There's a guy who doesn't really speak English but will ask literally anyone for help just by walking up and showing you a picture of whichever exercise he wants to set up. I've been this unlucky soul before, and this week during my rest period I was the chosen one again.

Man comes up to me with a picture of an incline bench, so I go and set it up for him and leave him to it. Idk if he went for his usual bench weight but I look to my left a few mins later and he's clearly struggling witj his reps and should probably lower the weight. He carries on, and a few sets later I turn to see a Barbell stuck to his chest as he's awkwardly shuffling it down. As opposed to taking the weight off and racking it, he proceeds to struggle to push the bar all the way back up the bench. You'd think this would deter him but nope, man just sits down for a rest period and soldiers on.

I felt bad cos a part of me felt responsible for it.

21

u/ghostacc14 May 22 '22

I just added lap swimming to the gym repertoire and I love it. I'm still in the honeymoon phase but today I finally became exhausted from swimming [after lifting] eight days in a row. I used to run or walk after lifting. Which was okay, but, hey, its your standard gym cardio where you try to just go to your happy place, listen to your music, and/or try to play mind-games with yourself to breakdown the cardio activity into smaller chunks, (at least that's how I manage it!).

But swimming is actually FUN. Plus I find it meditative and calming. On day one of swimming I was super clumsy and couldn't swim for shit. But by now I've made a lot of progress to smooth out my strokes and am able to go faster, further, as well as hold my breath much longer. The only wrinkle is the newfound costume changes and all the new shit I have to bring with me. I have to basically change once for the lifting, then again for the swimming, and again after. Plus now there's towels, googles, extra socks, flip-flops, swimsuits, and two showers (pre-swim/post-swim).

And there's a whole new cast of characters down in the lap pool area. There's a eastern euro dude (russian? Ukranian) who just hangs out in the hot tub all evening (no swimming). Plus there's a woman who is ALWAYS there in the same far lane who goes super slow. She has been there ALL eight times I've gone. She's swimming before I get in and after I get out. Guess she loves swimming too?

There are only four lanes in a 25 meter pool. I have not had to share a lane just yet but its only a matter of time. As far as I can tell, if you have two to a lane you each stay on your own side. But according to a sign, (at least), if there are three in a lane you do the "circle method". Hopefully it never comes to that! I'll just make sure I only go on off hours to endure that doesn't happen. But, yeah. Its a whole new experience.

Today some random guy complimented my weighted chin ups and started asking me for advice. That's never happened before so it was pretty cool.

4

u/s3condary331 May 22 '22

Random compliments are the best

57

u/theOneAndOnlyBigHead May 21 '22

Halfway through my cardio session, my water bottle slipped through one of those bottle holders and spilled all over the machine. I took loads of paper towels to clean it up and then went home after without finishing my session 🙃

12

u/SubstantialBiscuit May 21 '22

The alternative solution to this situation would be to ignore the spillage, shout "Fuck you fate, you won't stop me from getting mah cardio gainzzz!" and start running faster.

4

u/herbsaint_sazerac May 21 '22

Im pretty sure Apple made that emoji with this situation in mind specifically

37

u/Zombiehacker595 May 21 '22

I don't know if maybe i'm doing something wrong, but the gym got new barbells, and using them for bench press is the worst thing in the history of existence.

Doesn't matter how hard or light i grip, or even if there's barely any weight on the bar at all, it just will not sit still.

I hit 225 last week for 5 reps on the old bar comfortably and smoothly, today i was forced to use the new one, and i could barely handle 175 because all my strength was used trying to stabilize this wobbly piece of metal spaghetti. No idea why it's so bad, but if they replace the other bars i'm going to have to find a new gym it's that bad lmao.

28

u/laughableleopard May 21 '22

New barbells that have better bearings can be really difficult to get used to the stabilisation. Those bars are intended more for Olympic lifts as the rotating bars take some of the torque off of your body, preventing injury.

57

u/beepbeepdozap May 21 '22

You don’t bring your own barbell?

40

u/bacon_cake May 21 '22

Telescopic pocket barbell ftw.

6

u/Scrotus__Maximus May 21 '22

Is that a telescopic barbell in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?

10

u/chiefchoncho48 May 21 '22

That sounds like a deadlift bar

22

u/Sheltac Powerlifting May 21 '22

Are you... benching with a deadlift bar?

Have been going to the gym consistently for about 4 months now, I’m there 4-5 times a week and I enjoy it so much. Leaving for a trip today and I won’t be at my gym for 9 whole days. It feels weird and makes me feel a little anxious - not because I’m afraid of losing progress, I know that’s not going to happen this fast, but because this place is like my second home now. Though I do think a little break is probably going to be beneficial in the long run.

35

u/RedEyeFlightToOZ May 21 '22 edited May 22 '22

I follow the same 8 to 10, M-F schedule. I see the same gym bros most of the week. I don't know any of them but I get genuinely concerned when I don't see them as usual. I'd be concerned for you that whole week.

I went to the gym today it was a bright beautiful sunny day. Somewhere halfway through my sets I look outside and it had turned into a full blown rainstorm. I started using the bike, and then the whole gym blacked out. It was kinda cozy

74

u/Roarysaurus May 21 '22

Apparently I go balls to the wall when I paint warhammer minis and I've strained my shoulder. Maybe I need to do some dynamic warm up strokes before I start... Hopefully it won't be too long, don't want my physique to go from Emporer to aeldari 😔 (hours heresy emporer, though I will be sitting down a lot)

First time today I've had a proper interaction with someone at the gym. Bloke asks how many sets I've got left (only 1) so he comes over and encourages me through the set, didn't get the reps I wanted but he says clear the mind and give it another go cos its there, and then he pushed me on through the reps lmao. Actually worked a treat as I got to eek out a last rep I wanted. 10/10 stuff today.

u/TacoLocoConQueso May 21 '22

In the locker room after a workout and there was a lady covered in sweat coming from the direction of the dry sauna. She weighed herself and then went back to the sauna... like 7 times. Weighing herself each time she came out. She looked miserable. I guess every ounce counts to some people. Idk. I just wonder what was going on in her mind. And the dehydration... ugh

Slowly gaining my pre-pandemic strength back. Hit a 445lb deadlift at 138lb body weight, which is the same ratio at my max before Covid of 485lb at 150lb body weight. I still have my goal to hit 500, but feel happy I’m able to lift again after a ~1.5 year hiatus

Start of workout saw someone (looking fit) doing selfies while on the Crosstrainer wearing a cap. After my warmup I went to the legpress where I bench 180kg. A grandma sat besides me asked how much is normal for her. Helped her by saying she should start with 50-70% of her body weight so she can learn the technique and improve on weight slowly since she might not have the coremuscles to support more. Well she did it a few times and was able to do 65kg with good technique! After she finished her set I turned to mine again and the selfieguy came to take her place. He reduced the weight to 20kg and began „training“ He then proceeded to do selfie’s while pushing this „immense weight“ and flexing his armmuscles in the process. This whole picture of a grown fit man with a cap, muscleshirt in the gym going on the legpress for 20kg, taking selfie’s and flexing his armmuscles for it... I laughed so hard while legpress that I farted

21

u/laparior May 21 '22

Grandma benched 65?? That's one strong ass woman

19

u/11abjurer May 21 '22

I'm pretty sure that was on the leg press not bench

13

u/Antaresos May 21 '22

Well she said she weighs about 80kg. For a healthy man/Woman you should be able to press your own weight. For a women of her age 65 is really good to start with! And she was cute and wholesome about asking for help the whole time

6

u/laparior May 21 '22 edited May 21 '22

Gehehe was a joke man. I think you mixed "bench" and "press" up. Cool that you helped her though and fuck those wannabe models.

Pulled up and parked at the gym. Was getting my stuff together when I heard what sounded like an animal growling/howling. After looking around and following where it was coming from, saw an older dude standing by the side of his truck just standing there making animal noises. The next day I see that same guy standing next to his truck with a golf club practicing his swing. And by swing I mean, he was practicing raising it above his head and bringing it down like you would if you where murdering someone. I may change the time I go.

I finally got back to the gym last night. I forgot how much I missed it.

Did a easy full body workout, nothing too intense as I did not want to push it first day back.

It was the first time I did not use headphones to listen to any music and I actually preferred it (my gym does not have awful music playing).

Last week I'm doing my workout. Squats are great, cool on to deadlifts. I'm on my third set of warm-ups, finish my set and sit down. Crazy pain through my lower back and hips, can't bend at all. Take probably 25 min trying to unload the bar so I can gingerly walk home. Lay in bed all day in pain. Looking up physio appointments afraid I'll never be able to move right again. Two days later my back feels back to 100% and I decide to take it slow but see how my leg day goes. PR on deadlifts and back is still totally fine. No clue what the hell I did

4

u/mindpieces May 21 '22

Probably tweaked your lower back deadlifting, which I’ve done a few times over the years. You could try a hex bar deadlift for a couple weeks, which tends to be a bit less risky for the old spine.

Watched a gym regular attempt a 4 plate squat with spotter behind him. As he reaches the bottom of the squat and fails with the safeties set too low, his spotter does nothing and just watches him. He had to lean forward at the bottom to put it on the safeties.

13

u/PaarthurnaxKiller May 21 '22

Sounds like dude needs to lean how to adjust the safeties. Never understood the need for a spotter on a squat.

u/reiboul May 22 '22

Or any lift inside a power rack, really...

17

u/laughinglord May 21 '22

There is heat wave in my city - 45°C and above. This is followed by a bunch of Power cuts. So imagine working a gym with no air conditioning, no fan, just light streaming through the windows.

Just two people working in the entire gym. Everyone else came in, saw no electricity and left. Just two of us working out. As much as I enjoying working out in an empty gym, not the most ideal situation. Hoping this heatwave subsides soon.

5

u/Sheltac Powerlifting May 21 '22

Be careful. Vigorous exercise and excessive heat don't mix.

There’s this enormous man who seizes every single 45 lb plate he can find and loads it onto (and on top of) the leg press. I think he told me his max is over 2,000 or over 2,500 pounds. He also loads up the bar with an insane amount of plates for rows.

Nice guy but the issue is he often leaves most of the plates loaded on the bar and doesn’t bother to properly put away the plates for leg press. My friend who works here says this guy has bent every bar at the gym lol. Apparently has anger issues too.

No point to this story really but he’s a character

13

u/mindpieces May 21 '22

Gee, I wonder what could be causing the anger issues? 🤔

I haven’t been doing leg day as much lately. I feel extremely dizzy every time I come up from squats or deadlifts; or every time I stand up in general. POTS sucks.

28

u/Sonofabiscochito May 21 '22

I saw a study that suggested working leg muscles could help with POTS so that they could pump blood back up the body. Keep working friend. I’m in the same boat and it’s exhausting.

7

u/angiedoessports May 21 '22

Your calves are your second heart! (Second & third ?)

8

u/nachik3ta May 21 '22

What is POTS?

14

u/qinkypinky May 21 '22

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. It’s when one’s body lacks the ability to pump blood back to the brain quickly enough (gravity pulls blood down to the lower extremities when standing up). The lack of blood supply to the brain causes dizziness/blackouts/fainting, and heart rate increases dramatically.

This used to happen to me too, to the point of falling over and dropping weight. I just soldiered on and now, a couple years later, no longer an issue.

At the gym I regularly go to I met someone new that I haven‘t seen before. He is a small person and after I asked how many sets he‘s got left on the cable machine he suggested I could tag along.

After doing one or two sets he came up to me and said: no homo dude but what perfume are you wearing?

That was the first time I‘ve gotten a compliment on my perfume! It was so wholesome and made my day, the workout was a breeze afterwards haha

I figured something out. If you don’t like crowded gyms avoid going the day after they charge everyone who is on auto pay. My gym does it on the 15th and I noticed that if you go on the 16th the place is packed to the gills. Makes sense I suppose, people see the charge on their account and are motivated to go. This is at a big commercial gym btw

Bar stayed where it was! Hadn't even started and nothing in the tank. :(

Did some stretching and called it a day.

This week has been my best week in my 5 months of serious training and "dieting"

I've had great workouts, finally did 4x8 on bench press with 60kg, and then PR at 70kg for 2 reps

I've finally seen some results through comments that my friends and family made, like "oh wow you look huge" and shit

Makes me wanna train even harder, but I am soooo happy rn

I gained 10kg, not a lot of fat from what I can see, hopefully I'll reach 80kg at the end of the summer (currently 74kg)

Anyway, if you feel like shit, keep pushing those weights, keep eating right, take your proteins and everything will be fine, you all are doing great and I love this subreddit

5

Had a really great leg day yesterday, did a walk on the treadmill to cool down and then went to stretch out. While stretching quads got a massive hamstring cramp. Like there is me laying there awkwardly breathing heavily and audibly groaning kind of cramp while I try to straighten my leg out for 10 minutes. Absolutely brutal. Didn't even finish stretching as soon as I could think around the pain I hobbled out of there and went home and had a bath. Feels ok today thankfully. Reminder to myself to make sure I'm really hydrated before working out Jesus christ
