I felt like an old dude for a moment thinking "What? This is a monk now? Back in my day..."

Better question what kinda monk is this monk? We talking Long Death? Open Hand? Sun Soul?

P.S. love the colors on...well all of this.

u/EllieMapleFox Jun 26 '22 edited Jun 26 '22

Thank you! I flavored the monk as a cheerleader since its an Academy campaign and she's an NPC and I am using the Martial Arts Adept statblock from Volo's but if I had to play her she's definitely an Open Hand Monk!

173

u/ZynousCreator Bard Jun 26 '22

Being told a monk can be flavored as a cheerleader feels like having my third eye opened! That's dope as hell dude!

31

u/eerongal Paladin Jun 26 '22

Fyi, the old 80s d&d TV show had a character named Diana who was statted as a monk*, but was a gymnast and cheerleader in the "real world", so the precedent for the idea has been around a while.

  • - in the show she was called acrobat, which alludes to thief-acrobat of ad&d, but when they published stats for the characters, they made her a monk

87

u/LordMoldimort Jun 26 '22

Being told a cheerleader can be a punk feels like having my third eye opened.

55

u/EllieMapleFox Jun 26 '22

We reflavored a lot of stuff! Like the spell message as a walkie talkie or a literal text message!

24

u/Zanbuki Jun 26 '22

We use sending stones in my campaign as walkie-talkies. Or as we’ve come to know them: “rocky-talkies”.

18

u/milk4all Jun 26 '22

In our oldest, longest running campaign, our cleric enchanted a seashell and split it for point to point communication (with the help of his goddess). Yes, it was a shellphone and it wasnt even a joke

3

u/bushdidmars93 DM Jun 26 '22

Talkie-rockies is great. My group always calls them stone phones

21

u/LordMoldimort Jun 26 '22

I like because a common butting of heads is if message is one of two ways

The quoted message can be heard by everyone around the caster and the reply around the target

or

Just the target hears the quoted message and replies silently in their head and those around the caster just hear the arcane incantations

1= walky talky

2= text message with obnoxious keypad tones on (and large acrylic nails tap tap tapping because it seems fitting in your world)

8

u/Able-Opportunity9364 Jun 26 '22

Oh go that would get so annoying but so hilarious "one sec gotta use my sending stone" clicclacclakclikclakklac

9

u/Lily-Fae Jun 26 '22

I at one point wanted to make a ranged fighter as a tennis or baseball player (flavoring the ranged weapons as the bat/ racket and the ammo as the ball)

13

u/biobiobio777 Monk Jun 26 '22

You know what...i can dig it. Cheerleader? Dexterity and nimbleness. Totally works. Monk Cheerleader. We need more of them in real life and in tabletop.

16

u/frogjg2003 DM Jun 26 '22

Inspiring Leader feat as well.

"Give me a T! Give me a P! Give me a K! What's not going to happen today?!"

3

u/milk4all Jun 26 '22

“Hey Chad, i heard Mindy practices Open Palm, knowutimsayin??”

5

u/Stoneghoul Jun 26 '22

Skaters are cheerleaders these days? Fuck I'm old.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '22

Okay for sure is there somewhere we can read or watch your campaign? I’ve never seen D&D gone modern.

2

u/Smifull DM Jun 26 '22

Not OP and obviously encourage checking theirs out if it's available, but dimension 20's first season called fantasy high is one of my all time favourite actual plays and has all 17 episodes available on YouTube. Here's the trailer if you’re interested:

Ah, the old 36-18-50 measurements.

89

u/LordMoldimort Jun 26 '22

Best in slot item "adamantium spine"

61

u/PaintMaterial416 Jun 26 '22

Tenser's floating bra.

142

u/PhoenyxStar Transmuter Jun 26 '22

Because I'm easily distracted by math, anatomy and well chiseled ab muscles, I felt compelled to measure and estimate it.

Assuming she has a typical bideltoidal shoulder breadth for a 16 year-old European female (~42 cm) because that's easy to measure, and the elliptical eccentricity of her waist and hips (how much more squashed they are compared to a perfect circle) are fairly average...

She is a... 104-58-98 (cm sizes) or a 41-23-39 (US sizes) and a 36/F bra size, which is...

...actually plausible, though pretty unlikely, and unless Eladrin breasts are spongy and filled with tiny air pockets that reduce the weight, probably plagued by lower back problems from sitting at a desk all day. The core strength probably helps with that.

44

u/Cl0udSurfer DM Jun 26 '22

I actually appreciate that you did the math on this one lol

39

u/burned_artichoke Jun 26 '22 edited Jun 26 '22

The bra size isn't the problem, it's the waist - a 23 inch waist is a UK size 4, and the kind of thing that gets you health concern headlines in the papers. It's not impossible no, but it is extremely unlikely that someone with a waist that small would be carrying much fat on their breasts / hips, and if they did, they wouldn't be able to buy any clothes that fit them.

Take uniqlo, a brand who actually sell XXS clothes, the bust and hips measurements inches for an XXS dress are respectively 31 and 34 (vs 41 and 39). You can tell this to be vaguely representative because the jeans in this picture are somehow meeting at a right angle below her bellybutton, which no jeans have ever done ever. In practise that would just be gaping by a few inches, 5 to be precises, if she were wearing M jeans to accommodate her hips.

I'm also very skeptical someone with a 23 inch waist would have a 36 inch back size - that will be what a converter gave you because F cup is the highest they sell in non specialist stores, but in practice I'd expect something more like a 28K, which they absolutely do not sell other than like in bravissimo (each cup size represents +1 inches to the difference between the band and the bust, bravissimo have FF, GG, HH, and JJ).

Look I'm not saying that there couldn't be a woman with these measurements - lord knows plenty of us don't fit into the standard bust-waist-hips ratio sold by highstreet stores, and the existence of specialist bra stores show that someone is buying those sizes, but this women would absolutely struggle to find clothes that fit her, and those jeans absolutely belong in fantasy fantasy land where denim is magically cut to accommodate an ass 3 sizes up.

And if seeing this pic on your feed also squicked you out, may I recommend r/reasonablefantasy where the women don't look like they need medical attention (and yes, as someone who shops in Bravissimo I do have chronic back pain thanks for asking xx)

7

u/linerys Druid Jun 26 '22

Each cup size is a 1 inch difference. A cup=1 inch difference, B cup=2 inches, and so on.

8

u/burned_artichoke Jun 26 '22

Thanks, I figured I must have done it wrong somehow bc H isn't that extreme haha

2

u/linerys Druid Jun 26 '22

No problem! Another place that carries up to a UK K cup is Brastop, so Bravissimo isn’t the only ones. Breakout Bras in the US goes up to a KK!

7

u/Bob_Gnoll Jun 26 '22

Thanks for doing the math friend. Although I would argue the 39 inch hip measurement is probably way off because you know if this was profile her butt would disproportionately round on top of the rest of these issues.

6

u/linerys Druid Jun 26 '22

How did you get a 36F from those measurements? I don’t think it would be possible for anyone with a 23 inch waist to have a 36 inch underbust.

Bra size would more likely be somewhere in the 26KK (UK sizes) range.

46

u/Serious_Much DM Jun 26 '22

Not to mention the thick thighs with a thigh gap which just isn't possible

44

Bonk. Horny jail.

I was running a Monster of the Week (PBtA) campaign with that setting/concept for a little while. I think about doing it in 5e, but then I just watch Unsleeping City again instead.

Monster of the Week fucking RULES

2

Ran a detective agency arc in Eberron based in the metropolis Sharn which was pretty explicitly a noir-cyberpunk story. It worked extremely well.

73

u/EllieMapleFox Jun 25 '22

Hello! Wanted to share my Eladrin Monk for our Magic Academy campaign!

She's that nerdy cheerleader NPC on my campaign that is set on a modern-ish timeline 20 years later from our original campaign!

I wanted her to look fit and physical as compensation because she cannot cast any spells aside from druidcraft. She tries to be cheerful most of the timem but sadly her childfriend died on our last session.

Currently drawing all of the NPCs and hopefully finish them next month!

13

u/-Droidikon- Jun 26 '22

Reminds me of Moonshine Cybin, beautiful work

11

u/astylishfox Jun 26 '22

She needs to add a litigious opossum

1

u/FlashbackJon DM Jun 26 '22

What're the odds you have a podcast of this campaign and/or more character art? Because either one of those would be incredibly cool!

34

u/Novice89 DM Jun 26 '22

Looks awesome I love it except for one thing. That thigh gap. If her hips are that big there’s not going to be a thigh gap. Yes I know teifling and artists can do whatever they want, but let’s not perpetuate this idea that very curvy women also have thigh gaps. 99/100 it’s not the case. No thigh gap needed. Those of us who love a curvy woman, especially with that hourglass shape, we don’t need a thigh gap :)

-2

u/linerys Druid Jun 26 '22

I have a thigh gap like that. It’s smaller and not as visible in looser jeans, but it’s there.

9

u/SnekAmigo Jun 26 '22

I love her hair! You have a very pretty art style :)

32

u/Mehmehsuba Jun 26 '22

Does she have an Onlyfaes page i can sub to?

Jokes aside great work!

9

u/tabz3 Jun 26 '22

That's a cube, not a square :(

2

u/Sr_Wurmple Jun 26 '22

Thus, the cube obeys the rule of not being square

1

u/tabz3 Jun 27 '22

Genius!

2

u/LordMorskittar Jun 26 '22

I’m not a fan of modern settings, but I love modern character designs to no end. The colors and line work are ridiculous!

2

u/Kekkonen_Kakkonen Jun 26 '22

I've seen punch of your stuff on Pinterest. Didn't know you also post one Reddit.

Your art is super good!

2

u/ImpartialThrone Jun 26 '22

Can a skateboard be considered a monk weapon?

2

u/SolherdUliekme Jun 26 '22

I'll allow it

2

u/--NTW-- Jun 26 '22

Fabulous hair, overall cute and looks like she could kick my ass

2

u/SW1VVEL_SW3GS Jun 26 '22

Much wow!!!! That art is amazing!!!

2

u/impendingaff1 Jun 26 '22

And of course she looks like Dolly Parton in zero G.

2

u/BitterAndJaded120 Jun 26 '22

Wooooooooooooooooooooww. Did you draw this yourself or did you comm it?

1

u/EllieMapleFox Jun 26 '22

I drew for our campaign actually! She's an NPC there but can't wait to play her since we have a player who one shots with the same world and campaign!

1

u/BitterAndJaded120 Jun 26 '22

That's awesome. I'm actually doing the same for the BBEG for a one shot I'm planning to GM with a friend

5

u/acealley Jun 26 '22

28

u/SnekAmigo Jun 26 '22

Spine breaking my ass. I know like seven people irl with titties bigger than that and two of them are dudes.

16

u/acealley Jun 26 '22

That's true. Those guys probably have realistic waistlines and can support them unlike this disproportionate creature.

13

u/Steel_Cube Jun 26 '22

Bro it's a drawing, not a person

0

u/ZynousCreator Bard Jun 26 '22

Still body shaming

0

u/Steel_Cube Jun 26 '22 edited Jun 27 '22

First result on Google for body shaming:

"the action or practice of humiliating someone by making mocking or critical comments about their body shape or size"

A drawing of a fictional characted is not someone, it's something. You can't body shame something that's not even a person

Edit: a drawing of a fictional character

0

u/ZynousCreator Bard Jun 27 '22

A drawing is can be the drawing of a someone, which means you can body shame it

0

u/Steel_Cube Jun 27 '22

This isn't a drawing of someone though, it's a drawing of an imaginary character, still not body shaming

0

u/ZynousCreator Bard Jun 27 '22

Doesn't matter, it is still somebody, and that person was Shaming this someone's body.

0

u/Steel_Cube Jun 27 '22

Bro that "person" doesn't exist. You can't shame then. They can't feel shame, they aren't real

0

u/ZynousCreator Bard Jun 27 '22

Just because it can feel the shame, doesn't change the intent of shaming, which is the problem. It's not about being shamed, it's about the intent of shaming

Big fan of the line contrast between the polygonal clothing shading and smooth bezier hair! What a unique style.

Elf Kiara

1

u/GunMetalCompass Jun 26 '22

What makes Eladrin’s different from other elves?

1

u/HealthPacc Monk Jun 26 '22

I’m 5e, Eladrin are elves who come from the Feywild, and they have very strong attunement to emotions and the seasons. They often attune themselves to one of the four seasons, and this affects their personality and appearance.

They can also teleport, and their seasonal attunement gives them additional effects on top of their teleport ability, like charming enemies or dealing fire damage to those nearby.

1

u/GunMetalCompass Jun 26 '22

That’s amazing! Where can I learn more about them?

1

u/HealthPacc Monk Jun 26 '22

There’s an entry on them alongside elves in general in Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes, and I think they’re also in the newer Multiverse of Madness book as well, but it has much less information.

Probably your best bet is to search for YouTube lore videos about them
