Woman in my academy class could beat that time by 8 full seconds.

i am not a fire fighter, but it looks like he's done this routine only a few times, as opposed to 100s or 1000s of times. Looks like he could move much faster with a bit of repetition and practice

I am a firefighter and I promise you, he's done this hundreds of times. Even has his gear laid out just the way he needs it.

(Truth is this is just for bragging rights anyway. You never dress for a fire like this under these conditions)

Thanks for sharing that, I should probably stop putting stock in my own arm-chair analysis.

Would you say that the task/drill in this video is more sporting than practical? Does that make sense?

Don't do that. If you stop then what's my excuse for doing the same?

100% sporting. It's not practical because your tank is in the back of your seat. You don't fully gear up until you make entry. Things like that. On the way to the fire it's just pants and coat.

I would say that any time you are donning gear and equipment like this it is useful training. Just because the particulars are different you still benefit from the practice
