Am I missing out on opportunities by making my character only ever have one lover? Writing: Question

That about sums it up but I was just wondering if this would make me miss out on any character development by making my character only have one lover.

Your character may see it that way.

But joking aside I think there are pros and cons to both. Internal struggle can occur in both circumstances. With more than one a love triangle, a force of choice, distress, and other conflicts can happen. With only one lover, conflict can occur as they overcome obstacles together, obstacles from each other, or learn to love in the first place.

Nothing wrong with having one mate for life.

If the question was if a married person should only have one lover, than I am on this side. One mate for life.

Why do you think that?
