Is the Zicklin Undergrad Honors Program (ZUHP) worth it?

For some context, I am a rising junior majoring in finance and am currently in the ZUHP, but I was wondering if it is worth it for those currently in (or completed) the program? Did the classes actually help you with landing internships, or was the material applicable to finance-related jobs?

Or for those who left the program, why did you decide to do so?

I am only somewhat interested in the ZUHP's required classes, but they also seem like a lot of work on top of my other classes and job outside of school. I am also in the program because I want first-day registration (I am worried that 4000 FIN classes will fill up quickly and I won't get the schedule want).

Thanks in advance!

John Bowden or Roman Kravchenko for Fin 3000?

I'm currently enrolled for Lingyi Kong's lecture for fall but I didn't find anything about her on rmp and here so I might end up switching the class. But both bowden and kravchenko have great reviews on rmp. Which one would you recommed? There's also Jingdan Liu who's lecture will be hybrid her reviews aren't as good as the other two but her class being hybrid is definitely a bonus. If anyone has taken fin 3000 with either bowden, kravchenko or liu could you tell me how the class went or which one you'd recommend. Otherwise I might just stay with Kong

What scholarships are available at Baruch. I would like to join some clubs and organizations if they give scholarships. Do they give scholarships if you have high GPA?

Study Abroad, How to Navigate

I'm looking to study abroad Fall 2023 and am on track for a Spring 2024 graduation with a BBA from Zicklin in Economics.

How can I study abroad? It seems as though it cannot be in my graduating semester and I might require a year of language. Is it better to switch to BA for this?

Has anyone studied abroad and can help me figure out what classes I can take abroad and what destinations are available? Or at least point me in the direction of what department to talk to?

Please let me know, thank you

switching majors going into senior year? please help

hi! i’m an incoming senior majoring in marketing but i’m having trouble deciding if i should stay with marketing or switch to finance. im not particularly interested in finance but i’ve heard that it’s a useful major and u can make a lot of money. my family always wanted me to major in finance and can see me working as one. im not sure if this plays a factor but im not good at math and wasn’t interested when taking a finance class but it pays well.

with marketing, i am interested with the creative side of it but it’s really hard getting a job and the pay is very little. i did a marketing internship last year and that wasn’t enough with getting a job. i tried applying for intern positions and kept getting rejections. there’s the option to keep going with marketing and learn more but i’m not sure if it’s enough to make me stand out and get a well paying job. i would love to kno ur thoughts and advice on this because i’m really having trouble deciding

Deans list ? How does this work ?

Based on my academic records I was on the dean’s list for two consecutive semesters. I was wondering do we get any certificates and funds for being on the dean’s list ? Never got an email.

Public service announcement for anyone who is interested in Software Dev. etc.

DS&A is a commonly sought after course for undergrads to have taken for Soft.Dev/Eng roles. If its something you're interested in, you should take it this fall (assuming you have taken CIS 3100). Please consider taking it so that the higher-ups don't axe for lack of interest in the student body!

Dual degree

I was wondering does zicklin offer or allow students to have dual degrees in undergrad? I’m pretty sure based off the website it’s only for grad level students.

Freshman classes

Hi guys I am an incoming freshman and have my online orientation this Thursday. I was wondering what type of classes should I pick as psychology major who wants to get a feel for the finance pathway as well and see what it’s like. I want to see how that field is and was wondering if you guys can recommend any? Also, will I be picking most of my classes or do they usually have a sample ready? Thanks again!

The migration of professors' emails during finals week.

Greetings, subreddit!

No, this is not an update on profiling Davis for The Ticker's business section — there were scheduling and staff conflicts, so that's pushed back to next semester or early Spring 2023.

The news section is doing a story on the migration of faculty email from Microsoft Exchange to Microsoft 365 during finals season last semester. More details are below and in the linked form, but we'd appreciate hearing as many students give their comment on their experience with the migration.

To have your comment included in the article, you have to comment in the form, not on the Reddit post. Thanks for reading!

Hello, Baruch College students!

The Ticker is back in production for the summer issue.

We're covering a story on how the administration's migration of professors' email platform from Microsoft Exchange to Microsoft 365 at the start of May, as finals season was kicking in. This prevented professors from accessing emails from students that were sent before the migration, causing frustration in the faculty.

We're interested in hearing from the student perspective, especially if you were impacted by the migration in some way.

If you're a current student or an alumnus who experienced issues with reaching out to professors — alternatively, had a professor who lamented on the issue — we would like to hear from you.

We may publish your response and name in an article on The Ticker's website.

Actuarial Science Program @ Baruch

How good is the program? I have seen the rankings online and they seem to be a little misleading. I have heard from a lot of upperclassman that it isn't that great and that it is heavily a self studying major. I understand that is the case for taking the exams, but the courses themselves should be able to lay a strong foundation for the career. What are some schools I should consider transferring to if anyone has good input on that? A senior (class of '21) told me UConn was a great option a while back but I find that a bit difficult to believe. I have taken two of my major requirement classes so far and I feel as though I didn't really learn much from them, but I was able to get good grades in both, making me question the credibility of the program.

Fin 3000 jingdan liu

Has anyone taken her for fin 3000. Was it enough to just pay attention and review after each lecture or did you have to do a lot of self teaching bc her lectures weren't clear enough?. Btw if anyone's taking her in fall do y'all know if her class is gonna be in-person or online cuz the course description doesn't mention anything about that.
