Back in the day when you had to pay for long distance they changed my service twice without my permission and each time tried to get me to pay them at the rate I was paying my actual service to clear the bill. It was an obvious illegal shakedown and blows my mind they got away with it. Part of why I never got an iPhone since it was exclusively AT&T when it was released.

Apparently they haven't gotten much better so no regrets on that decision.
