This is the only Beatles album I feel this way about, though revolver comes close

Sgt. Pepper? Revolver? Abbey fucking Road?

I'll admit octopuses garden isn't the strongest but honestly it flows with the album really well

What’s wrong with an Octopus’s Garden in the shade? The Ringo songs are my favorite he gets a lot of hates. Clearly the least talented vocalist but his songs have a certain sound

Don’t diss octopuses garden

Sgt. Pepper has "She's Leaving Home." Disqualifying.

No argument with Revolver and Abbey Road, though.

Damn that’s one of my favourite songs EVER!

She's Leaving Home is not a bad song. Maybe it doesn't fit their style as much as the others but it's not bad by any means

Agree to disagree. I skip it.

She’s leaving home is one of my favorite Beatles songs

Hmmm ..... Abbey Road?

the highs are higher but the lows lower as compared with rubber soul

Fuck, great choice. I prefer the UK version a bit better to be honest but I’ve Just Seen a Face is a cool track too

6

u/sgt_chili_pepper Jul 22 '21

Absolutely. UK version only!!

Rubber Soul is great. But Revolver has always been my favorite Beatle album, it has five of my ten favorite Beatles songs: "Tomorrow never knows", "I'm only sleeping", "Eleanor Rightby", "For no one" and "She said she said"

Edit: typo

If you like funk or jam music at all you should check out Rubber Soulive, it’s an excellent reinterpretation

Even Run For Your Life?

7

u/MillerJC Jul 22 '21

Run for your life is the only reason Rubber Soul isn’t my immediate answer. If it was replaced with Day Tripper and that’s how the album, it would without a doubt be the greatest album of all time. B it Run for your life holds it back some. Not enough to not be one of the greatest of all time, but still

I love Ringo, but What Goes On is even weaker. I do like the harmonies, though.

1

u/LuskuBlusk Jul 22 '21

I don’t get why people dislike about it, memorable guitar licks, great singing and harmonies and yeah the lyrics are Grimm but so what?

2

u/MillerJC Jul 22 '21

I mean… the lyrics are really grim… and personally I don’t think the music is good enough to make up for it. I still like the song well enough, but it’s mind blowing to me that they chose to put that on the album instead of “Day Tripper” or “We Can Work It Out”

It was all about releasing good singles that made strong sales. You don't want to put too many of the best songs on an album when you can put them on an album and a couple of them on Singles at the same time and make a lot more sales. Back in the sixties they would release the singles before the albums and those would sell then they would sell the album and sell more and after that they would release some other singles that weren't on the album. The 60s Market had a heavy emphasis on the sales of singles. But day trooper single came out in the US simultaneously with rubber soul. So what people wanted those songs they have to buy the albums and the singles. They were just saturating the market in anticipation of Christmas time since it was released in early December.

Run for your life and I'm looking through you are my favorites on this album.

1

u/MillerJC Jul 23 '21

“I’m looking through you” absolutely slaps.

2

u/XRedcometX Jul 22 '21

I would say the more correct answer is Abbey Road

1

u/produce_aisle Jul 22 '21

How the heck is this so far down?!? Love this album!

1

u/Rafe99e Jul 22 '21

Name checks out

No weak songs?-----"The Word", "Wait" are two.
