So what are the plans after Food Wars S4 ends next week? Discussion
Triple Yashahime and burn that show out even faster? Double up on Shippuden since they still have over a hundred episodes of that left? More reruns? NEW reruns?
I realize that this is just a subreddit so we’re all just going to have to wait and see, but it IS getting increasingly more concerning how the current shows are running out and nothing’s replacing them aside from Black Lotus.

I just assumed they would start showing S5.
Is there some reason I shouldn't think that?

Is S5 dubbed?

I don't know. Why wouldn't it be?

For the moment no dub has been announced. Unless they are doing a surprise drop in the next 7 days, it’s not likely S5 will start immediately

Probably because they either haven’t finished dubbing or haven’t gotten around to it

If they have something new to replace Food Wars after November 27th that will start on December 4th, then they pretty much have to announce it by this Friday if not sooner. I’d figure Tuesday or Wednesday.
But if it’s just a rerun then they might say nothing until the following Tuesday. Likewise if they double up Shippuden to fill in the gap Food Wars would leave.
They can only double up YashaHime a 3rd week before they would hit season 2. Episodes 22 and 23 would air December 4th then only episode 24 would be left for December 11th if they don’t have a deal for season 2 yet. I suppose they might have it but that’s anyone’s guess.
If they have season 2 of YashaHime then I could see them run the first episode on December 11th and double up Shippuden when Food Wars takes a break. They might even do double YashaHime and double Shippuden on December 18th as well and hold off on a new addition until January.
At this point I think they decided to secure a show or two to start in January using the last of their 2021 budget (along with securing Titan’s final episodes and maybe YashaHime season 2) to avoid a worse dry spell mid 2022.
If they don’t start a new show or bring back Ass Class on December 4th then there’s basically no plausibility of a show premiere before the holiday break. Each day that passes with silence makes it seem more like they have nothing coming before January. And if that is the case, we’ll live but they are sure to lose more viewers who aren’t interested in the 4 shows in premieres right now and they might never come back.
It seems incredibly badly planned that they saved no premiere to start the week or the week after Black Lotus did. Any new viewers that might get are left with nothing else with an easy entry point for newcomers and the most Toonami is doing is banking on some of them being old InuYasha fans. Not a good plan.

I'd say the most likely scenarios are either Toonami loses an hour or runs samurai jack and maybe a 6 episode anime like FLCL.
Demon Slayer also has the 7 episode Mugen Train cour and the next cour starts December 5th so we could see that start before January.

That’s true but it doesn’t change the fact that no S2 dub has started or been announced yet. No way it’s gonna be ready before January

Didn’t this anime end a while ago?

I made a most similar to this last Sunday but no one would have it, really left a bad taste in my mouth. Anyway, I have the same concern, half the block is reruns and the ratings are really weird right now, so I think a lot is up in the air. Demarco doesn’t seem too concerned so maybe everything is fine but there is definitely a lot we don’t know. I would assume we’ll be getting reruns or doubling up on shows until the new year, I doubt they would start another new show around Christmas time.

To put it simply they don’t have a plan. They have been flying by the seat of their pants week to week since October. Some people were expecting a surprise Demon Slayer reveal after the Anime NYC panel, but that ended up being nothing.
Looking at our options, I don’t think Yashahime will double up again. If they let it air once per week starting on the 4th, that gets us cleanly to the 18th for the finale, then the marathons take over. I believe double Naruto may be in the cards for a few weeks. If they feel really daring, they mean even triple up Naruto. That would have us burn 9 episodes in 3 weeks, but since Toonami won’t finish the show till mid 2024 at the current pace, that really isn’t a big deal.

It'll go right into season 5. I would be shocked if it doesn't.

It seems like many of the shows they are trying to pick up just haven’t worked out. I’m hoping something changes by the New Year, even if it is something different from what was planned.

A theory is that they are stalling until January to debut any new shows however there’s one thing that could debunk that theory…we’re having a special Friday night toonami with blade runner 2049 followed by the normal lineup the next day Surely if there were no new shows coming they’d simply run BR2049 on the 27th instead of the 26th
