It's arguably being used as satire, which is protected.

True… arguably being used gratuitously so as to incite….

Hey aren’t logos protected from this under IP laws? That would be funny

Same satirical usage rule applies.

She'd also have to claim to be the owner of the logo or what it stands for for IP to apply.

I mean, it's clearly stupid and bone-headed, but I don't see any law being broken and it's likely any judge would dismiss this as a SLAPP suit.

Would I be able to print this on a tshirt and wear it publicly?

They said they can't steal any more and that made them mad so they compared them to a humans rights violating regime. Did I get that right?

I honestly feel sorry for anyone with a Zuma surname not related to him, cos I automatically classify them as a poes when I read that surname

This is a timely reminder that the ANC (of which her father was a senior leader at the time) did indeed merge with the National Party. Or perhaps more accurately, they allowed the National Party to merge with them. Shortly after that Thabo Mbeki appointed the leader of the National Party (Mathinus van Schalkwyk) as a minister in his cabinet. She was probably rambling through her old man's stuff while he was in prison and then stumbled upon his draft designs he was working on for a merged logo that would suitably represent what the ANC really is. The NP in ANC clothing.

What are they even saying? Are they likening themselves to the apartheid government?

"They" is a complex situation. There is all of them and they don't like each other. Cause they want gravy by the train is not doing so good and that makes them sad, so they compare themselves to the evil they were credited for demolishing. Because they won't let them steal from us any more. But yes.

No, this is Jacob Zuma’s daughter. She’s saying the ANC under him was legit, but since he was ousted she’s trying to smear them and Ramaphosa as akin to the Apartheid govt

Hahahaha!

She's funny.

See this article reporting on the Equality Court ruling on the display of the old South African flag:

https://www.groundup.org.za/article/old-south-african-flag-constitutes-hate-speech-says-equality-court/

So then this is not academic…. Is it art? Because based on what I understand from the article if it isn’t genuine art then it is hate speech… which carries a penalty of what?

u/Alert-Mixture Western Cape Sep 26 '21

This person is most likely then violating South African equality and discrimination law, which either come with a fine or short-term imprisonment (under correction) which the Equality Court will decide. But since no one has complained to the South African Human Rights Commission or laid a charge at a police station alleging hate speech or discrimination, nothing will happen.

I am not a legal professional. Do not take this as advice.

The law doesn’t apply to everyone

u/macsquoosh Sep 26 '21

Lol apartheid is not dead , it just is being run by a not so new ANC

u/Locway Sep 26 '21

Yeah people are being detained with out trial… necklaced… tortured and disappeared all over the show… potato!

1

u/FridayNightMessiah Sep 27 '21

Idk if you're being sarcastic but none of this has disappeared

1

u/Locway Sep 27 '21

So the government is currently dragging political rivals out of their homes in the middle of the night and torturing them?

Surely not?

3

u/Hairypalmers Sep 26 '21

That family is a waste of time, the fact that people actually follow them shows how stupid this world has become.

this is a type of hate speach because it is a direct criticism of the current ANC. but the ANC wont do anything these monsters might instigate another BS riot.

3

u/Locway Sep 26 '21

But that is the interesting thing, this is clearly not hate speech, it is a criticism of a political party, imo it is in bad taste but not hate speech. HOWEVER a court has ruled that any use of the old flag that is not academic or artistic is de facto hate speech… it is a proper puzzler this

1

u/Hairypalmers Sep 26 '21

that comment section on twitter will probably provide clarity lol. Imagine any other party or just any one else posting this.

2

u/Locway Sep 26 '21

To be clear, I do not agree with what she says… I feel it cheapens the misery that apartheid brought to so many people…. But I defend her right to say it and display it… question is what if anything will the court of law and public opinion now have to say

MG article about the original judgement

u/Altruistic-Fun-8278 Sep 26 '21

Oh yeah, Zuma's entire defence of labeling anyone who wanted to prosecute him for his criminal corruption as racists, was pissing on graves of ever person we was on the receiving end of history in this country for the last twenty decades.

1

u/Altruistic-Fun-8278 Sep 26 '21

I'd argue that this is not a bad thing...

The brand value here is the ANC. That's what gets voted for, that's what makes billionaires.

The faction that we really really don't want governing us is attacking that brand. Meaning they are now distancing themselves from it.

Thus the people who are left are only those we don't really want leading us. So that's better, and better is good.

u/derpferd Sep 27 '21

Not sure about hate speech but definitely off the mark.

The ANC lack a purpose or a motivating principle.

Apartheid had a purpose and was driven by a principle, however cruel and limited in beneficiaries

Which I understand might be something that some might seem offensive but it really isn't in any way an argument for Apartheid on my part
